We all know there is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man. But some things on the outside of your horse are good also for the inside of the horse himself!

Your horse’s whiskers, for example, are tactile hairs that play an important part in your equine friend’s sensory awareness system. Just to mention one thing, they help your horse gather information about their surroundings in the blind spot existing from their eye level to ground below the nose and out to about six feet—so the animal can sense things like the grass he grazes on and the hand that strokes his muzzle.

This past week I had the privilege of teaching equine acupuncture to a class of amazing veterinarians enhancing their ability to help animals. This part of my career is my absolute favorite! Seeing veterinarians trained in Western Medicine coming together at the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society course to learn Traditional Chinese Medicine and a way to further help our patients is absolutely incredible! Congratulations to all of the veterinarians that took the action step to help more animals, see you on November!

It is Freedom Hooves day! This is one of my favorite days each month. I get to help 5 of these horses with adjustments. They give so much to us! Jetta had a therapy rider have a seizure while riding her and she was absolutely perfect. She stood totally still until help could get to her rider. Then there is Honeybee, she is 43 years old and won Horse of the Year! Thank you for all you do Freedom Hooves!
