Check out Sugar! Sugar is an older dog that was diagnosed with Vestibular Syndrome and was unable to do anything but lay there. She could hardly lift her head and her owners thought they were going to have to say goodbye to her. On Wednesday they brought her in to AMC for an adjustment. She was so bad I had to crawl in the back of the SUV to even adjust her. Immediately after her adjustment she corrected her head 50% and sat up. I literally couldn’t believe it. Today I got an update on her and she is walking and able to go to the potty all by herself! The owners now get to spend more time with Sugar ❤️. The videos are from before her adjustment and today (posted in the comments) 2 days after her adjustment. The power of chiropractic care amazes me!
Today’s strengthening exercise is wither and back lifts. There is no boney attachment of the horses scapula, so there movement is dependent on strong muscles. Wither lifts strengthen the trapezius muscle and help the horse pick up its front end easier for proper engagement. The belly lift strengthens the longissimus muscles along the spine. Strengthening these muscle helps your horse lift its back for better engagement. Proper engagement not only enhances your horses performance, but can reduced the risk of some chronic conditions. The printable cards are in the comments.
Todays strengthening exercise is using Theraband balance pads. This is one of my absolute favorite exercises! Not only does it increase proprioception, but it does a great job of strengthening the small intrinsic stabilizing muscles. Printable directions and pictures are in the comments. You can purchase the balance pads off Amazon.
