Did you know Grizzly 399 has given birth to 18 cubs throughout her lifetime? Despite her high number of offspring, not all of them have been able to survive to maturity. Only eight of 399’s cubs have reached adulthood. Currently, she’s raising one yearling cub who’s learning essential survival skills and is beginning to explore its environment more independently.

STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND LOOK AT THIS BEAR SQUIRREL!

Folks, that is NOT a bear, but it is a squirrel. A southeastern fox squirrel, to be exact. This handsome specimen was spotted at P*e Dee National Wildlife Refuge in North Carolina.

The fox squirrel comes in a variety of colors: gray, black and of course, bear-colored. The fox squirrel is the largest tree squirrel in North Carolina and almost twice the size of the more common grey squirrel. If you visit the P*e Dee refuge, tell em' the bear squirrel sent ya...

One of the tiniest primates in the world, a Pygmy Marmoset is about the same weight as a stick of butter 🧈

Helping cold-stunned sea turtles

Our staff have been working diligently with FWC-authorized partners to respond to sea turtles affected by our recent low water and air temperatures in St. Joseph Bay in Gulf County, with the team and our officers in the region rescuing a total of 66 cold-stunned green turtles.

When water temps drop to 50 degrees Fahrenheit or below, sea turtles may become cold-stunned, where they become weak and unable to swim. Cold-stunned sea turtles may float listlessly in the water on or near shore. Although these turtles may appear to be dead, they are often still alive.

If you see injured, distressed or dead sea turtles, please report it to our Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-FWCC (3922).

Seeing a LOT of these near where I'm pet sitting this week on the east coast of Florida! Yesterday there seemed to be one under each parked car where I stopped for produce and herbs, declaring its territory. My guardian finally abandoned his post & moved to another car so I could leave without dreading hurting him💕
