Horizon Veterinary Care is thrilled to announce that on April 1st we are welcoming long-time Vancouver resident and local veterinarian Dr. Malia Haddock to our medical team!

Dr. Haddock is a graduate of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing locally for more than 10 years.

Drs Reading and Haddock previously worked together in a different clinic, and their skill sets and approaches to companion animal medicine compliment each other very well.

Happy Anniversary to Us!!!

On January 3rd one year ago, Horizon Veterinary Care opened its doors with a simple goal, provide “Authentic Care for Dogs & Cats”. Since opening, we’ve welcomed more than 700 clients and 1200 patients to our clinic!

It’s been a challenging yet very rewarding year of learning and growing, buoyed by our awesome staff.

We’re excited for what 2024 will bring and are grateful for your support!

In honor of those who have served so bravely, with a willingness to sacrifice all for the common good, we wanted to post this heartfelt message made by our daughter in her classroom. It's modeled after her great grandfather, who was an Army Air Force C-37 pilot in the Pacific during WW2, Lt. Col. A.C. Swanson. Thank you for your service always and with particular recognition this Veterans Day.

We love getting notes from our clients, especially drawings from kids! Cooper was in for eye removal around Halloween, and everything went great. We're so happy he's making a solid recovery.

Such a cute pup! Just look at those floppy ear whiskers 😊 This little guy was in for his pre-surgery exam and blood work. A little nervous in the beginning but warmed up with some gentle handling. See you soon Flynn!

Dentistry for Pets and Your Veterinarian

Did you know that the majority of veterinary school graduates exit their programs with very little hands-on training in animal dentistry? A 2017 study reviewing dental curriculum offered at multiple U.S. veterinary programs found that some schools have no training at all.

Dr. Reading completed a dentistry rotation at Cornell University, and has taken ongoing continuing eduction in basic and advanced dental extractions. She has more than eight thousand hours of hands-on experience performing dental procedures for dogs and cats. This includes performing comprehensive dental health assessments, interpreting oral x-rays, and performing dental extractions. She also maintains close relationships with veterinary dental specialists in the area for referral when the patient's needs are outside of her scope of care.

All dental procedures at Horizon Veterinary Care are conducted under general anesthesia with a dedicated team member for monitoring a patient's vital signs throughout the procedure. We make every effort to provide a reduced stress experience for both you and your pet.

So, if your dogs or cats are in need of dental care, consider giving us a call. Your fur family will thank you for it!
