The Gold runs strong in this one! Lulu is the first Golden Doodle I met with more straight hair than curly... she was amazing to work with and such a sweetheart! This session was a gift session donated to the Rose City Silent Auction held last year.

Every year, through Fuzzy Butt, I happily donate a variety of money, items and Gift Sessions to various charities around town. Today on this consider donating to help a cause dear to your heart. Even if you can't afford to give money as this time of year is tight, there are many charities and rescues out there who can use simple household items, blankets, food, bedding, toys... Go into your garage and clear out a box of items you haven't looked at in years and just maybe you can find something to not only make some space for you but provide something needed by someone else who may really benefit from it.

Coming in 2025 - Fuzzy Butt Farm! 🥰🐾❤

A long time dream is soon to come true. Some of you know, but most of you don't, my husband, mom and I purchased a home and will be moving this month to our new place - a beautiful fully fenced 5 acre lot in Washougal, that also includes a very large shop which we will be turning into an indoor pet photo studio. We have so many plans, creating incredible indoor and outdoor studio set ups for every season of the year, planting varieties of flowers and plants to accommodate every season, it's going to be amazing!! 😆🙌

I hope to have things to a point come springtime to host an open house for friends, family, photographers and Fuzzy Butt advocates to come and check it out. Truly, the sky is now the limit. We can do SO many things and I could not be more excited for all the magic that is to come! 🐾❤🙌🥰🥹

Cleo, an Australian Kelpie, is only 8 months old and quite the spitfire! She has SOOO much energy, it was absolutely amazing working with this afternoon. I couldn't wait to get home and share one of my most favorite images from today's session 🥰❤🐾

Dogs don't see as well as humans in terms of clarity and range of colors. They see the world in shades of blue and yellow, but cannot distinguish between red and green. But depending on the breed, a dog's sense of smell is around 10,000 - 100,000 times better than ours. Imagine for a moment seeing through your nose!

They possess up to 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses compared to about six million in ours and the part of their brains that analyses and processes scents is (proportionally) 40 times greater than ours. Dogs have an extremely complex smell ability. Dogs will remember a human's scent for days, weeks, months or even years. Dogs can smell their owners from up to 40 feet away and it has been reported that with the help of beneficial conditions, they have been able to smell objects and people as far as over 12 miles!!

When we inhale, the air we take in passes through our noses and moves down our tracheas to our lungs. In dogs, about 12% to 13% of inhaled air is separated through an upper pathway that leads straight to the olfactory epithelium, a thin layer of tissue responsible for detecting odors.

Have you heard of "sniffing lateralization"? This allows dogs to sniff with each nostril separately! Get this - Dogs sniff primarily with the right nostril when they first start sniffing. For familiar or non-aversive scents such as food, they tend to switch to the left nostril. For aversive, threatening or arousing scents, they stick with the right nostril. This has to do with the processing pathways in the brain: The right hemisphere processes novel information, while the left hemisphere controls behavioral responses to familiar stimuli.

I love learning more about our beloved Fuzzy Butts. They are truly such incredible and unique creatures with super human capabilities and they absolutely deserve our love and admiration ❤

Yesterday ended up raining all day long - one session pushed out, one cancelled all together and one opted for an authentic PNW holiday session! 🙌 🥰

I had first met Tamsin and her mom last year, we had done a full private session and she ended up with a gorgeous large Metal Print of Tamsin jumping alongside her walking. Her mama's sister was in town for the holiday week and we were supposed to be at the coast, but since everyone else had rescheduled, we decided to pivot locations and head up to the Cedar Creek Grist Mill... if you are from the area, I'm sure you have heard of this spot or if not, now you know!

It's a very cool covered bridge and beautiful old mill structure in Woodland WA area, only about 30 mins from Portland. A great location for fall photos, I feel we were a little behind on the 8-ball when it comes to fall leaves, as many had already fallen, but it is such a cool location that it really didn't make much difference. It was raining the whole time we were there but thankfully it was a light rain and none of us melted. Woooooooo!!! 🐾😅🥳

It was such a beautiful afternoon with Rei and Sabia. The weather this time of year can be so hit or miss and thankfully it was a hit on this afternoon. 🥰🐾❤

Just a couple more sneak peaks from this session. I have 5 more sessions lined up this week and then the holidays are officially on for me! I will be taking most of December off to move to a new place in Washougal area that I am SO very excited to start calling home!!

I will be sharing more about the new place with you all soon, because its going to be a BIG deal when it comes to Fuzzy Butt...but it really deserves a post in itself so keep an eye out for that to come soon! 🥰❤🐾😁

Rei was flying! Can anyone guess the breed of this beautiful girl?

Rei's breed, an ancient "Blushing Dog" of Malta, is an elegant but rugged sprinting hound bred to course small game over punishing terrain. Quick and tenacious on scent, these friendly, affectionate hounds settle down nicely at home.

They are sleek, aerodynamic coursing hounds bred for high-speed pursuit on rocky terrain. Among their several distinguishing traits are a tight tan coat with matching leather on the nose, ears, and eye rims; ravishing amber eyes; the ability to smile; and a unique way of blushing when happy or excited ('His face glows like a god,' wrote an admirer some 3,000 years ago). These elegant visitors from antiquity possess the speed and graceful movement of all coursers descended from Bronze Age hounds. 🥰❤🐾

10 more days until December! Where did this year go??

I can't help but feel on edge at this time of year. It like the holidays are a big rock being dropped into the collective energy pool causing tidal waves of nervous ripples that my empathic body absorbs like a dry sponge.

How do you chill out? The thing that honestly makes me feel the very best is cuddling up with my pups. Bubo and Pippin each require at least 15-20 mins of cuddles every night and the warmth and love I feel off their little bodies is like a warm blanket that radiates calm and makes me feel so much better. Even during the day, if I ever feel overwhelmed, I sit and hug one of my dogs and it's instant relief for me.

Over the next several weeks, be sure to take time for yourself to relax and unwind! We are on the edge of the holiday storm!

Did you know that KC is a highly trained truffle sniffer? Each year, her mom and her head out and do truffle searches together and it has been a fun way for them both to evolve together. Our fuzzy friends are truly so very unique and special, there is no limit to the incredible ways in which they can benefit and enrich our lives.

The most precious and value asset anyone of us have in our lives is time. Yet so many obligations cause us to not have control over so many of the hours of our day. Sitting in traffic, standing in line, performing necessary tasks that provide us with a lack luster and repetitive experience.

Because of this, it's so important that of the moments you do have control over, you make the most of them at every chance you get. Squeeze every last second of laughter, happiness and joy they can provide you. When I think about it, that's really our only obligation in life - to make the most of it while we can. ❤

Allie was one of my very first sessions when I started Fuzzy Butt and I got to see her over the weekend during a family photo session. She was doing really well for 14 years old and I hope continues to do so. I really loved this portrait we got of her with the Willamette River and fall colors behind her. She definitely belongs on the cover of an adventure magazine. 🥰🐾

As Thanksgiving draws closer, I can't help but reflect upon what I'm most thankful for in my life. Fuzzy Butt is a dream job and one I do not take lightly. For anyone who knows me, knows I bury myself in my work, probably far more than I should, but I just can't help it. This work is simply life for me. The love and support I have received from so many of you has meant so much to me and has helped to carry me from one day to the next. It is something that I promise I never have and never will take for granted.

While nothing in life is guaranteed, for what its worth, for what I am worth, I guarantee you have no idea how much importance you all hold for me. I can't thank you all enough for the beautiful moments we have shared. Each one, significantly improving my experience of life, each one preserving a beautiful moment in time with your best friend.
