Mutts & Misfits Our mission is to support every Mutt & Misfit we can through the rescue to adoption process.

This means taking the time to stop for the dogs who need us the most - the dogs who need additional medical care or help working through behavioral issues. This is a time consuming and expensive process, which is why these dogs often slip through the cracks and fall off the radar.

As we look back on 2025, our hearts are so full. This year, so many incredible dogs found loving homes, and none of it would have been possible without you.
Every adoption represents a second chance, a fresh start, and a life changed forever. From shy pups learning to trust, to playful goofballs finding their perfect match, each success story reminds us why we do this work.

To our adopters: thank you for opening your homes and hearts.

To our fosters, volunteers, and supporters: thank you for your time, love, and dedication.

To everyone who donated, shared posts, and cheered us on: you made these happy endings possible.

Because of your support, 2025 was a year of hope, healing, and new beginnings. We can’t wait to see what the next year brings for the dogs still waiting and the families who haven’t met them yet.

Do you guys remember Nutmeg? He was with us for 2 years. Here is a fun update from his family.

Hey there! I’m Nut, and I’ve had quite the journey in my 5 years on this planet. My sweet foster mom called me Nutmeg, but my forever family just calls me Nut .

As a COVID puppy, I had a bumpy start, but life took a turn for the better when I found my forever home with my amazing mom and dad – and my little sister, Guni! We may tussle like typical siblings, but when it comes time to nap, we curl up together, snuggled in our love.

Despite my 70-pound frame, I fancy myself a pocket puppy or lap dog! Every day, I enjoy our awesome “POO POO park time” – a little park where I can sniff around and bark at squirrels and rabbits. I’m always on guard, barking my head off whenever the big brown or white trucks pass by to protect my family!

I’m quite the escape artist, too! My parents built a fabulous dog run, but I’ve become a pro at squeezing through the tiniest holes. When I dash down to the river for a swim, it’s game on! My parents try to chase me, but they’ve learned the hard way that I always catch them on their Fi collar!

With endless food, treats, and my beloved Staffy toys, I’ve finally discovered what true happiness is: unyielding LOVE!

We want to take a moment to recognize Taylor, one of our incredible volunteers here at Mutts and Misfits!

Taylor takes on some of our toughest behavioral cases—dogs that need a little extra guidance and patience to reach their full potential. Thanks to her dedication, these pups get the chance to live in a home environment while learning the skills they need to thrive. With her care and training, they’re set up to make great choices and become the amazing companions we know they can be.

We’re so grateful for the heart, time, and talent Taylor shares with us and our dogs. Because of her, more dogs are finding their forever homes and happy futures.

Huge shoutout to Tristen at Nature’s Pet in Hazel Dell!

He secured us an incredible deal on this pallet of dog food!

They are always so helpful and supportive with our fosters and their special dietary needs, and this generous support will keep our pups fed and happy for months to come.
