Litter #14(#September11thlitter)
Rio Bravo × Bessette pure Hog Islands. Repeat pairing from last years striped/reduced pattern litter and we got even more reduced pattern, stripes and reverse stripes!!! Not sure what this proves but we reproduced the same type of babies, which is kinda of exciting. 7 live 1 still and 2 slugs. None of which have normal Hog Island patterns, from seemingly normal looking parents.
Litter #12---Details coming soon.
Litter #9
0.1 Kahl snow × 1.0 ghost jungle het kahl.
11 live 4 stills a 5 slugs
I've been trying now for a few years to produce snows and moonglows and for some reason or another it just hasnt come to fruition...until today. Not the greatest outcome in terms of numbers and live babies,6 live snows and moonglows, 5 anery and ghost het kahls, all 4 doa/stills were snows and moonglows.😪 But, Im happy with what I got and there are some real nice jungles in the mix too. I've already seen at least one or 2 holdbacks. Might have another shot at this combo with my moonglow female and the same father later in the summer.
Caught in the act...
This is only the 2nd time I've caught a boa giving birth in person. Ive watched it on the Blink camera a few times. Its amazing to me that this tiny girl had 14 babies and a slug packed inside her.
Litter #4 Far from successful...
Once again a disappointing result, although before 3 weeks ago I had no idea she was gravid. My buddy Sean Parker ultrasounded her and we saw babies, so I had hopes this ole girl would drop her 6th litter and it would be healthy...not the case. 3 live, one severely deformed T+, one premie super motley, and and big fat Nic T+ motley and quite a few slugs. Again, this is a partho birth and I didnt pair her till I saw signs of pre ov swelling. I had no intentions of breeding this female this year. She is definitely past her prime and will be retired. Its too bad she is the meanest boa I own or I'd give her away to a loving family to live out her years. If you are inteested in getting struck at everytime you open her enclosure, this could be your new boa. Lol
Since FB will only allow me to post one video at a time and no pics with the video, on my IRC page I'll put some pics in the comments.
I had my friend, Sean Parker, stop by a couple weeks ago with his ultrasound. Thanks Sean!!! I knew I had a handful gravid females, but this season has been weird. Missed ovulations, sheds coming right before ovulations so, not getting a pos. Sean ultrasounded a bunch of girls and more than anything he gave me some peace of mind. Not only were all the ones I thought were gravid, are gravid, but quite a few more than I expected were carrying babies. We saw spines and heartbeats in many many boas. I wish i had taken more pics and video, but this one really shows that baby pretty well. FB doesnt allow me to attach more than one video or pics along with the video. Not sure why, but it is, what it is.
Anyway, his ultrasound worked flawlessly and inspired me to get one. I picked up a used ultrasound unit, not a top of the line one like his, but should help next season and the rest of this year track follicle growth. This will save my males and ensure pairing at the right time. I'm still figuring out how to work mine and hopefully with a little fine tuning, next season will hopefully turn out as well as this year is looking for me.
We have hit a pretty big milestone here at IRC, the big 3K! A huge thank you to all my 3001 Indian River Constrictors followers. Lets go for 4K now. Maybe I'll even set up a Instagram account now...
Pissy little 1.0 Aztec het Nic T+...
