Today, a ribbon was cut—but not just any ribbon. It marked the opening of a space designed for second chances, outdoor breezes, and the gentle memory of a young woman named Emily—and her beloved cat, Sheldon. Turn the sound ON to hear Sheldon’s eulogy, written by Emily's father, Bob Hoffman.
At HARP’s East Side Shelter, the newly renovated Catio is officially open to our feline residents. The upgrade was made possible by the Hoffman family, who gifted this space in loving memory of Emily and Sheldon. It’s a tribute not only to their bond, but to the countless foster kittens Emily helped care for alongside her sister, Beth Louise.
This sunny sanctuary now has clear panels to block stress, a weather-safe roof, and cozy furniture built just for cats to climb, relax, and play. It’s not just a space—it’s a promise: that every animal deserves comfort, enrichment, and love while they wait for their forever home.
Thank you to the Hoffmans and another thank you for the thoughtful design by Kate Benjamin of Hauspanther.
🎧 Remember, leave the sound on to hear the touching eulogy written for Sheldon—the heart behind this legacy.
