🌟 A Huge Thank You to Convergint Technologies - Pittsburgh 🌟

We are incredibly grateful to Convergint Technologies for partnering with HARP's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for their annual Convergint Day on June 7th. This amazing team, along with their friends and family, dedicated an entire day to serve and support our community and local wildlife!

Their hard work included:

🐦 Building new perching for our raptors and raccoons
🐢 Freshening up our turtle enclosures
🏕️ Prepping our building for summer camps
🧹 Deep cleaning a variety of animal cages
🌳 Beautifying our campus by planting trees, weeding gardens, and grounds clean-up and so much more!

National American Eagle Day: Protecting Our Eagles & All Wildlife from Lead Toxicity

How You Can Help:

◾ Prevent Lead Pollution: Lead toxicity in wildlife is primarily caused by discarded fishing tackle and spent ammunition. Dispose of these properly to avoid leaving harmful debris in nature.
◾ Use Non-Lead Alternatives: Switch to non-lead fishing weights and ammunition to reduce the risk of lead poisoning in eagles and other wildlife.
◾ Clean Up Outdoors: Regularly pick up litter, especially lead debris, to keep habitats safe.
◾ Spread Awareness: Educate others about lead toxicity and how they can help protect wildlife.
◾ Support Wildlife Rehabilitation: Donate to organizations like HARP’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center that treat animals affected by lead toxicity. Treatment is costly and involves lengthy chelation therapy.

🌟 Happy Caturday! 🌟

🛣️ Follow the trail of breadcrumbs straight here to meet Gretel! This sweet girl is looking for a calm home where she can relax and enjoy her days. Gretel is a lovebug, but she can get overstimulated with too much attention, so a cat-savvy owner who can read her body language is a must.

😻 She has lived with another cat before, so she may be open to sharing her furever home with one, as long as they are introduced slowly. Gretel isn't a fan of young humans and will need to be adopted by an adult-only home.

▪️Favorite Snacks: She loves munching on peaches and strawberries. 🍑🍓
▪️Unique Marsupial: Opossums are North America’s only marsupial, carrying their young in a pouch just like kangaroos.
▪️Tiny Beginnings: Baby opossums are the size of a jelly bean when born. Imagine something so tiny growing into such a wonderful creature!
▪️Mom's Little Hitchhikers: Baby opossums often hitch a ride on their mom’s back, piggybacking to explore their world!

🤩 Introducing your new buddy, Buddy! This gentle boy came to us from a home where he missed out on walks, so he's been on a journey to shed some weight and embrace the great outdoors! While he's been learning to walk on a leash, he still finds stairs challenging and is managing Osteoarthritis with medication.

❣️Buddy is incredibly affectionate and truly deserves the best! However, he can be overwhelmed by the energy of young children. As a herding breed, Buddy may exhibit typical herding behaviors and would thrive in a home without small children.

Meet Gander, a lovable 5-year-old dog ready for his forever home! Gander is house-trained and has made a few doggie friends during his stay at HARP. The East Side Shelter is temporarily closed to dog admission and dog adoption services due to a parvovirus (parvo) case. This precautionary measure is to prevent the spread of this highly contagious virus. 🐾 Thank You 84 Lumber Company!

We are thrilled to wrap up our amazing partnership with 84 Lumber during the month of May. Thanks to their generosity, HARP offered veterans and active duty military personnel a 50% discount on adoption fees for all adult animals. This incredible opportunity has helped many of our furry friends find their forever homes! 🏡❤️

This adorable sweetheart found her way to us when her previous owner couldn't care for her anymore. Lexi's had some experience living with another feline friend, but she might thrive best as the sole queen of her castle in a tranquil environment. Though she may be a bit reserved initially, Lexi's heart is full of warmth, and once she gets comfortable, she loves to chirp and greet you with a gentle hello.
