As a reputable breeder of 13 years of Mississippi k-9 kennel I have worked with service, protection and family K9’s. My professional opinion it would be inhumane to remove Nadia from her handler. K9’s can exhibit negative behaviors such as aggression, separation anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder if removed from her natural environment. If the cost of training is the issue with VPD and the handler is willing to pay for expenses incurred for Nadia during her time in service. There should be no issue as it’s in the best interest of the K9. The bond between the officer and dog is a vital part of their service removing that factor alone could cause negative effects on the K9.
