Just need to take a moment and share how proud I am for the team we have built here. In just 3 months of being open, we have successfully trained and placed 6 dogs who were sent from shelters or rescues - 50% of these dogs were pulled from euthanasia lists ! The team at BARK Institute is full of compassionate, talented people who know no limits of empathy and hard work. I am so proud of all we have done to date, including all the already-loved and have a home pets, but largely for these dogs who otherwise would have had very different outcomes.

Rooster is available through @hamiltontownshipanimalshelter but currently resides at @b.a.r.k.institute and is completely on and off leash trained. He gets along well with dogs and LOVES to play. As much as he loves to play he also loves to cu up and cuddle. He’s as sweet as they come and good with kids.

Puppy socialization with dogs 🔈
The most important thing you can do with your puppy in terms of dog socialization is intentional interactions with stable adult dogs.
Example here -Remy is here for a puppy jump start program and everyday we make sure they have one interaction with one of our neutral adult dogs. This will ensure they don’t have a negative experience due to an uncontrollable dog/puppy. The neutral behavior will also help them understand not every dog is an option for play. When socializing with younger and higher energy dogs/puppies you want to be sure the play is fair and being enjoyed by both dogs. You also want to advocate for your puppy if they are giving you signs they need space or are uncomfortable.

Welcome Blaze to boarding school. This boy is afraid of the world and because of that he displays some unruly behaviors like reactivity, bolting, excessive barking in the home and more. Follow along as he joins us for 4 weeks on a journey to a more confident life !
Our boarding school program is completely customized to each dog and families needs- below is what Blaze needs to study to improve on while here, before graduating and heading home !
-Building his confidence on walks & in general
-Pulling on the leash
-Being afraid of leaves or anything that moves
-Barking at everything & everyone in his sight
-Barking & going crazy when someone knocks on the door
-He needs work on sit - he’ll sit but he’s immediately up
-He needs work on stay
-He needs to learn place so we can answer the door without him going crazy
-He needs work on come - he has no recall
The next 4 weeks we will be working towards checking all the boxes on his moms list. We will also be adding in some crate training, treadmill training and other things to help them manage him long term - stay tuned 📕
