From this to that !
This is why I do what I do !
(And why I like to have a little rescue fund at the clinic to be able to help these types of cases ASAP ) !
This kitten was posted as needing help on a rescue page and as I felt it was suffering and needed help ASAP before a rescue could be secured I offered to take it in and get the vetting started !
When you send a donation to the clinic this is where is goes and what it does !

Meet Alfredo ( I think females kitten so may need to be shortened to Ally )

She was severely underweight (340g at 6.5 weeks old - 1/2 of what she should be ) and had urine scald/severe dermatitis on her hindend ( she had maggots on her in the first picture I saw)! She was bathed, dewormed, slathered in bum cream fed and started on antibiotics last night!

Today she has gained 100 g and is on her way to being a healthy kitten without discomfort from her sore bum !

Clearly I can’t help them all but for this one kitten I sure made her feel better very quickly !

Available for adoption if anyone wants a sweet white kitten !

Meet Tommy Guns! Our clinic team and I saved Tommy from euthanasia a few weeks ago when he came in with a broken leg that his owner couldn’t afford to fix . I told the owner I would try to find rescue (but haven’t been successful as of yet ) but I decided to try to fix his leg and hoped it would all work out in the end !

So if anyone would like to adopt Tommy Guns let me know as all he wants to do is hang out and he gives great hugs !

Tommy still needs a bit of healing and will need his time pin pulled once his leg has healed but as much as he loves his vet clinic team he is anxious to find a new hang out to patrol !

His ideal home would have a catio so he can go outside safely and a humane that loves a snuggly cat !

My rescue shed needs the walls taped , mud and painted - any volunteers to help me do that at the end of July - doesn’t have to be stellar job as most will be covered with puck board but needs to be done to seal the walls before we cover it !

Born May 21 so not quite 3 weeks but mom is having trouble keeping up !

Makwa is eating Acana healthy grains puppy dry and canned puppy food from the Purina vet line sold at the clinic! All 11 puppies are gaining weight daily so far !

Edith is eating the Royal Canin gastro puppy food canned and dry sold at the clinic ! Her 7 puppies are tiny but gaining weight daily - she is starting to let us handle them a bit more without getting upset so the weigh ins are less stressful for her ! We are being patient as they are only a few days old but they are so cute we just want to snuggle them !

Bubba gets his Kong for the night !

Paynter took a break from being a Jurassic park ranger to help with the puppies tonight although we still kept up with the walkie talkie communications and kept his backpack of supplies close by !

Edith had her babies yesterday (she actually snuck into my closet upstairs to start her delivery so I made her a nest to continue until finished and settled ) !

7 little white Minis !

They are currently in the house because she is so tiny and the babies need some extra monitoring while so small !

Edith is a good little momma and worries when we touch the puppies too much and appears to count them if we sneak one out !

(I met the baby daddy today and he is a 15 kg white friendly fluffy guy so these pups will be small to medium - see picture below)

May 2024 - Meet Makwa (means Bear in Ojibwa) ! I picked her up yesterday , she came in pregnant from a northern community and she is currently having puppies in the shed ! We are up to nine but I think there will be a few more !

They will be getting bear themed names !

She is a bit shy but is in a safe quite space to raise her LAST litter of puppies!

She is the first dog to actually birth a litter in the rescue shed!

A little about my rescue project !

In the summer of 2023 we purchase this building and moved it into our yard ! It is a work in progress and a project we can build on for years to come !

This is a heart project for my family and I ! Our kids nick names are Bubba and Bobo (hence the name ) and this project is a lasting legacy and a way to give back something meaningful to me/us!
It is a project to teach our children compassion for those in need and to build an understanding of working together to care for those who cannot care for themselves !
This project was inspired by Jean and Gerry Gatey and is the gateway ( Gatey way ) to find a furever family !
This project is supported by Funds For Furry Friends my long time rescue contact (when in 2004 their founder Shauna Rice help me cxn and rescue a little allergic Shih Tzu and her puppies) and any donations made for this project can be done through their rescue for a tax receipt!
I will be adding details and information about my/our project and rescue shed occupants as we go along and things change !

Fortune - my 6 month clinic rescue spent a short few days in the rescue shed - 1st cat alumi ! It took me 6 months to get him healthy but he was so worth it ! He spent 2 days at pet valu and found his forever family fast ! I love , love , love this cat
