Hello friends! Biscuit here. Guess what? Today was my birthday!!!! I’m 8 years old now. I had such a nice birthday. I got to watch my favorite show, Game of Thrones, all afternoon. Then Mom served me my annual birthday meat dinner! Afterwards, Mom took me to the beach for a romp in the ocean and playing in the sand. I am so very loved ❤️🎂

Hello friends! We had two important milestones this weekend! First, Mom went away for a few days and her good friend Auntie Beth stayed with us. She took such good care of us and sent Mom all these nice pictures. Cinnamon was nervous the first night but then settled right in. Mom is so proud of her. And on top of that… Cinnamon finished her heart worm treatment! After 4 months, she’s done with the injections and took the last pill yesterday. It’ll be so exciting for her to really get to play now and go on nice, long walks. We can’t wait ❤️

Hello friends! Looking to have TWO of your very own Oreo cats? These VBSPCA had these two tuxedo kitten cuties who need a loving home ❤️

Our Pets of the Week are all dressed up with no place to go... yet! Strawberry and Raspberry have been overlooked for some of our more outgoing kittens, but we know their home is out there. Ideally, we would love to see these two sisters be adopted together because they love each other so much. These three month old Tuxedo ladies are very shy, so they will need help learning how to socialize with humans - however, they have made a lot of progress in their foster home and here at the shelter!

The key to these girls' hearts may be in treats... be sure to check out our Stories today to see them in action! They're also very good about eating their meals, which are provided by our friends at Purina. Stop by the shelter today to meet Strawberry and Raspberry!

Hello friends! Cinnamon here. Just thought I’d give you an update on my heartworm treatment. I got my first injection a couple of weeks ago and go for my 2nd & 3rd in early July. I’m still taking my Prednisone too. Mom is doing her best to keep me nice and calm… but it’s so hard because I really want to play sometimes! But I have TONS of Nylabones to chew, which I love. Plus, I’m learning some tricks! And of course, I’m getting lots of love and cuddles ❤️

Hello friends! I started my first dose of Prednisone yesterday in my battle against my yucky heart worms. I feel fine… but it makes me have to potty way more often! I had a couple of accidents in the house yesterday. But Mom said it’s okay and she still loves me ❤️

Hello friends! I’m doing my first shift guarding the newly dried laundry. Biscuit explained how very important it is to lay on the nice warm towels & blankets as soon as Mom puts them down.

Hello friends! Biscuit here. It’s National Rescue Dog Day! I’m a proud rescue dog and I’m so grateful to Critters 4 U Rescue (and that vet’s office) for saving me when I was abandoned. If it weren’t for them, my puppies and I wouldn’t have made it.
And of course, nearly two years earlier they saved my late, wonderful big sister Honey Bun too ❤️

Hello friends! After one week here with us in her forever home, Cinnamon’s starting to feel a little more relaxed. And she’s begun taking toys out of the toy box! The bones seem to be her favorite. Plus, we had our first lunchtime car ride together!

Hello friends! We have some exciting news… meet our new baby sister Cinnamon!

Cinnamon is from the Virginia Beach SPCA. She was transferred to the shelter after being found as a stray with newborn puppies in Randolph County, NC. The VBPSCA placed Cinnamon and her babies with one of their loving foster families until the puppies were ready to be adopted. Then Cinnamon and her babies all moved to the shelter to find their forever homes.

Cinnamon is about 4 years old and a mixed breed. She is incredibly sweet, but very timid. We’re showing her what pet life is all about in our home – food, toys, comfy couches and beds, walks, and LOTS of love & cuddles. It will take time, but she’s already bonded with Mom and is slowly starting to come out of her shell.

Cinnamon is also currently undergoing treatment for heartworms. It will take a few weeks to get rid of them and exercise restriction is critical during her treatment. So no zoomies, fetch, or long runs for her right now. Just lots of couch time, chew toy time, and cuddles. But hopefully by mid-June, she'll be free of those nasty worms and ready for summer fun!

Hello friends! One of the animals pictured below found the best home ever. More to come… 😊

26 animals made their way into their forever homes last week, including 12 cats, 11 dogs, and 3 small animals. It was a big week for some of our long term feline residents: Blondie and Mama (middle left), Girlie (middle right), and Dexter (bottom middle) all had their adoption dreams come true!

The VBSPCA also supported 9 families through relinquishment services and 2 families with our Pet Pantry services. A total of 102 animals are currently in foster care, and 24 homeless animals were transferred into our shelter where their second chances await. Thank you all for the continued support which makes these happy tails possible.

Hello friends! We sure hope everyone got to enjoy the beautiful weather today. Oreo loved perching in the open window. And after work, Mom took me for our first beach visit of the year! I ran around like crazy, rolled in seaweed, met some new doggies, and charmed everyone with my happy antics.
