The amount of work that goes into this craft is crazy to me but I love it, I love the feeling of looking into the mirror during short breaks throughout the day looking at the man on the other side knowing that he is doing his best, giving his all and laying it all on the field for his clients and for their dogs.
The first rule of dog park you don’t talk about dog park! 🤫 🤐
Which one of Scarlett’s Heels do you like best?? And why is it number 1??? 😅
Capturing engagement is a crucial behavior to build! Easily the simplest thing to teach your dog the only thing you need is patience. Start in a low distractive environment first with a high value treat! Every time your dog looks up at you give him a treat!!! Move to more distracting environments as your dog progresses!!
That last day is inevitable…. Don’t wait until it’s too late to give your dog the best day of their life. Your dog is only a small part of your life, you are every part of your dogs life.
As hard as it is no matter the circumstances please advocate for your dog.
Day 6/30 board & train short and sweet video showcasing Hazels obedience session progression, no pressure used yet, making sure Hazel has the behaviors learned before utilizing any tools.
Take your dog outside and touch grass, they are just as depressed as you are!
When shopping for dog training treats I recommend finding something that you can withstand yourself! Why would you feed your dog something that you wouldn’t even eat?? @whosagoodboy_industries @saintroccostreats @hopeforliferescue
Hot topic, I agree with rehoming a dog…. As long as it’s for the right reasons, sometimes people just realize their lifestyle isn’t suitable for the dog, sometimes dogs bite children, sometimes dogs try to kill the family cat, some people break limbs and get cancer and can’t provide the necessary fulfillment for their dogs. I think the most selfish thing you can do is to keep a dog that you know you can’t provide for.
Day 5/30 Hazel is doing a terrific job following a lure and performing the basic foundational command requirements. She is still in the learning phase so we are not introducing any pressure to the behaviors just yet. I want training to be fun opportunities for Hazel to want to participate in vs. feeling like she’s forced to work. @carealotpets
Board & Train day 4! The stress is wearing down and the learning starts! We started implementing the positions for “heel”, “sit”, and “down” today, Hazel is becoming very enthusiastic with the training sessions and I know she’s going to do an amazing job through this process!!
Day 3/30 Hazel is transitioning into our house quite nicely and her stress levels have dropped significantly! I like to condition my markers for 3 days before using them for obedience! Like and follow for more, day 4 is where the fun starts!
Hazels 2nd day of her 4 week board & train! In this video we spent the majority of the day doing activities that relieve stress, I don’t believe in trying to force a dog to train unless they actually want to, if your trainer doesn’t focus on your dogs needs as a priority over obedience well you might want to think about that! It takes a dog roughly 3 days to adapt to a new change in their life! Let’s see what tomorrow has in store!!!
Join me and Hazel as we work on her obedience, reactivity, confidence, and independence!! This is day 1/30 during the first few days we will be focusing on stress reduction, adjusting to a new environment, and offering tons of enrichment through decompression walks, bully sticks, lick-mats, and marrow bones! If you want some great ideas for building a happier dog please reference my mentor @whosagoodboy_industries
This career definitely has its perks but the absolute best reason is to see the dogs I work with become confident, well mannered, and stress free! #dogtraining
