At 6.5 weeks we’ve gotten our first round of vaccinations and an all clear from the vet. Now it’s on to Volhard testing this week!

*and no, for those wondering, we didn’t have to go out and buy that shirt, Ross already owned it 😂

I remember begging Danielle Scruggs of Carolina Goldens for an Alaska puppy, because the moment I met her, I fell in love. Her daughter, our Bella, did not disappoint. She has her mama’s sweet disposition and desire to heal hearts. When she retires from making perfect babies, we plan on working her in therapy so she can follow in her amazing mama’s paw prints. I always get so excited to see who Bella’s puppies are going to be, and so far this litter has not disappointed ♥️🐾

It’s National Purebred Dog Day!
I’ve had Golden Retrievers since I was 9 years old and since that time, I’ve never NOT had one. They are my passion and true love. Though I believe different breeds are perfect for different people, I just don’t see how anything else can compare to a Golden.
Originally bred by Lord Tweedmouth of Inverness in Scotland in the late 1860’s as hunting dogs, they come from flat coated retrievers and water spaniels…and there have long been rumors there was some Russian Circus Dog in the mix too!
Goldens have webbed-feet, double coats, and very gentle mouths, all of which aid in retrieving water fowl. They are literally bred to love water (and mud 🤦🏼‍♀️) and carrying things around.
They are among the most intelligent of dog breeds which can lead to boredom and destructive tendencies if they aren’t stimulated, but this is ALSO what makes them amazing working dogs. Golden Retrievers don’t just want a job, they need one!
They’re known to mature more slowly than most breeds, which is why those of us in the community go on about their “eternal puppyhood.” They stay silly and playful and goofy well into their adult years. I’ve even seen that puppy glint in the eyes of sugar faced Goldens and it’s so magical.
They may make us crazy with their antics and fur that seems to end up everywhere, but they are the smartest, kindest, most intuitive dogs on the planet and personally, I wouldn’t change a thing ♥️🐾
