What better way to celebrate than with a pup cup?! 🐶 Selah Gold’s Some Like it Hot, or Marilyn as she’s known by her friends, had some very promising hip and elbow x-rays taken earlier this week! Now to anxiously await our OFA scores. 🥰
Baby Griffin (Chrysanthos Griffin) had his first trip to the dock today. 🥰 This boy will be a swimming and jumping pro in no time!
Happy #nationalgoldenretrieverday from ‘Henry’, formerly Rambunctious Red, from our Fab Four Litter. 🤩 We couldn’t be more proud of his family, who have all done such a phenomenal job training and raising him! 🤗
Catching up with Bailey, formerly known as “Grey Boy” from our Fab Four litter! 🥰 We are so proud, he is well on his way to being a trick dog master in no time!
What a year 2022 has been for Sandy Acres Goldens! We have had some wonderful Goldens come into our home this year, some permanent additions, and some just passing through. We have done SO much this year-training, trialing, traveling, showing, whelping, and puppy raising! A huge thank you to all our friends, puppy families, and supporters for making our year so fantastic. From Sandy Acres Goldens, we wish you a fantastic new year. ❤️
The boys had SUCH a great time at their first vet appointment! 🥰 With the help of some cream cheese, and the amazing staff of Valley Center Veterinary Clinic, all four boys are immunized, microchipped, and ready to head off with a clean bill of health. 🙌
The boys are the big ONE ☝️ month today!! These guys have had such a jam packed week, and keeping up is getting more tricky! 😂
While I work on condensing all of this week’s novel experiences into one video, enjoy this little clip of the boys’ first “real” meal a few days ago-don’t forget to turn your sound UP ⬆️ ⬆️.
The boys’ third week FLEW by! 🥰 This week, we were able to incorporate not only new sights and smells, but as the boys’ ears opened we have begun introducing various sounds as well. Even more exciting-the puppies had their first visitors! 😍
So excited for all this next week has in store for these guys! 💕
The boys turned TWO weeks old yesterday, where is the time going?! 🥹💕
Over this past week, we continued our ESI and ENS protocols, as their eyes opened and they began to take their first steps. ❤️
Every few days we are trimming their nails, to continue keeping them comfortable with their paws being touched and their nails done. Some scents they’ve been introduced to this week include coffee, lavender soap, peppermint tea, and pheasant wings. 🐦 Additionally, this week we have begun introducing litter box training. Our goal is that these boys will be pros within the next few weeks, pottying in their designated area. 🥳
As their eyes opened, once a day each boy gets carried for a brief 2-3 minute stroll about the property, so they can begin to see and experience the outside world in a safe manner. 😁
Week three will bring so many fun, new experiences, their ability to hear sounds, and more. Stay tuned!
A HUGE happy third birthday to our sweet girl, Myrtle! 🥰
Our sweet as pie, gorgeous, friend to everybody girl. What a wonderful three years it’s been, sharing them with you.
A huge thank you to SelahGold Golden Retrievers for beginning our breeding program with such a spectacular dog that truly set the standard high for us. ❤️
We have eyes! 👀
As of yesterday, these sweet little boys are starting to open their eyes. 💕🤗
While they won’t have full use of all their senses until about three weeks old, we are so excited the boys are quickly on their way to seeing the world around them! 🌎
Yesterday marked our sweet boys’ first week earth-side. 💕 Here’s a little video showcasing what we’ve been up to: our ENS and ESI exercises, cuddling, first nail trim, lots of eating, and even more sleeping! 😴
Happy first birthday to our sweet Marilyn girl! 🥳🎉 We are so blessed to have her in our hearts and home. 💕
Taylor and Myrtle are CELEBRATING their/Clear scores on their OFA Advanced Cardiac Screenings! 🥳 🎉
What is an Advanced Cardiac Screening? This requires the girls’ were screened via echocardiogram, meaning the examiner must be able to perform two-dimensional, pulsed-wave Doppler, and continuous-wave Doppler examinations of the heart.
In addition, both girls were given an Auscultation exam, which entails listening to the heart with a stethoscope.
These happy girls got to celebrate the good news with duck chews from Escondido Feed & Pet Supply ! 🥳🤩
Myrtle got to take a trip to the dock today. 🥰
Myrtle was a bit of a late bloomer, when it came to swimming. Only last summer did she begin to enjoy swimming, but we’re SO happy she did! 🤩 Look at this girl go, willing to jump off the actual dock on her very first trip!
We can’t wait to start honing those skills, and get Myrtle jumping further from here on out.
While we were definitely a little warm today, Marilyn had a GREAT first session at the range! 🤗
While most Goldens today primarily fill the roll of family companion, it is equally important to consider what they were originally bred to do; fill the roll of a dutiful hunting dog. 🦆
As such, we want to ensure our dogs are comfortable with loud, abrupt sounds by nature; especially gunfire.
Now that Marilyn is past teething, we decided to take her out to the range, and we were thrilled at how well she responded. 😁 Hopefully some hunting will be in this gals future!
