This horse is a superstar!
2nd time being entered and Rocket runs .4 faster than last week, jumps up a division and is a second off the fast time.

He ran a 17.3 last night to be 4th in the 3D and win money in the futurity side pot.
There is so much we can improve about last nights run and he’s still got more to give.

This horse is so dang special 🤍🤍

I came home one very happy cowgirl on Thursday!💕
Rocket entered his first race ever last night and it was my first race in 4 years.
Rocket went in there and ROCKED IT! It felt like we were really running but looking at the video we’re hardly running😅 We ran a 17.7 and he won about $120 and we have more to give. I am beyond excited for this horse and our future.
His first race and he placed AND won money, I feel like one lucky girl

I’ve waited a long time for this horse. We’ve had our ups and downs over the last 3 years and our fair share of obstacles, and I’ve waited a long time to be able to add to his list of earnings. Only upward from here 💕💕

Roo is the best little girl! She ties, baths, loads, stands for the farrier, lunges and carry’s a saddle pad.
She’s so SO smart and learns so quick. She’s on track to be bigger than Rocket and loves her friends🤍 it’s been so fun getting to raise this one so far🤍🤍 2.1.22

Nothing phases him and I’m so grateful to have him. Through all the lows, he’s taught me so much and he’s just got one of the best minds of any baby.

A month ago this c**t couldn’t lope a circle.
A month ago I was ready to throw in the towel with him.

Last night he loped collected and controlled one handed circles and went around the barrels for the second time in his life.

We’ve changed our approach a million times, switched up techniques, used all the training tools in the book, seeked advice from multiple professionals, had more than a few come to Jesus moments (for him and me), sweat a lot and cried more than I’d like to admit.

It’s hard when you’re doing the same thing at home every day to see results and to feel like you’re getting anywhere. It may seem so small but it sure was big to me.

I had such a hard time with this c**t. Majority of our rides I ended frustrated and upset, as did he. I got to the point that I really didn’t have much desire to ride him.
But he is so different from any c**t I’ve ridden before; different breeding, different personality and different kind of drive.
So after stepping outside my brain and getting outside perspective and advice, I put together a game plan of what I need to do different because HE is different. And I’m stoked that he’s had two awesome rides in a row!
Sometimes you have to adjust your approach, adjust your mindset and adjust your attitude to adjust your results.

Feeling more and more positive about the future with this guy 🥰

I’ve been keeping a secret that I am finally so excited to share with you guys!

We’re BRANDED!

This brand has been YEARS in the making, and it’s finally happened. Felix Prieto Branding Irons made my dream a reality with this brand and I finally got it in my possession a couple weeks ago...

And today my very own brand was put on my very first futurity horse, Rocket. This brand encompasses all of my hard work for the last 10 years; all the sacrifices made, horses that changed me and the journey that got me here.

Tears were shed and I can’t believe it’s finally happened. I am so excited for this horse and what this brand means to me. HAPPY NEW YEAR!❤️❤️

Little update for everyone! Sorry for being so inactive. This time of the year has been filled with a lot going on at work so it’s been pretty busy.

Rocket has been great! We’ve been hauling quite a bit and handling it great. He’s trotted his first pattern and he worked great! He got his teeth worked on, baseline X-rays taken and feet done a couple weeks ago so he’s all set to continue on in training!

I have some plans to change things up a bit and am excited to see how he does.
I had hoped to pick up some outside horses but with work right now it just isn’t possible.
I will keep you all updated with Rocket’s progress and with any changes regarding lessons or training.

Happy Monday everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve updated everyone on what’s been going on, so I figured I’d give you all a little background on me, where I’m at and the plan for the future!

A little background... I grew up in a family that didn’t support a career in horses. They couldn’t afford to get me into horses financially and I was pushed to focus more on school and an education. I ended up where I am because I worked hard for it. I worked off lessons starting at 14 years old and used my allowance to pay my mom for gas. I got a job at 16 and used that to pay my parents for a ride. I worked off riding lessons and then barrel racing lessons and then worked off entry fees and leasing. I cleaned stalls, scrubbed water buckets, fed, babysat... did whatever I needed to do to make it happen. When I turned 18 I got my first horse and then I worked off board. I traded that horse a year and a half later for the one you all know as Reno...

Fast forward to the preset... I continued to work as hard as I could at my jobs to be able to afford whatever I needed for my horses. I had Reno, then got River about 2 years ago and never knew how I could afford two horses.. but I made it happen and had 3 jobs at one point to make it all work. I bred Reno last year which brought my total to 3 horses. I sold River a couple months ago to a therapy program in Tucson where she is loved on everyday. I was then gifted the most amazing 2 year old, Rocket.
About 6 months ago I stepped out of my comfort zone and moved up north to work under a professional barrel racer and futurity trainer. Again, working as hard as I can to learn as much as I could to make my dreams of training horses come true. It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done but has taught me so much. Unfortunately, a couple weeks ago my dad passed away unexpectedly and It flipped my whole world upside down. I had plans to sell Reno and buy a 4 year old to start running next year at the futurities, but when everything happened my plans changed.
I made the decision to move back home and be with my family during this time as well as go back to school. Because of this choice, 3 horses are financially not a responsible option for me right now.
So I’ve sold Reno, who is now being used as a lesson horse, and just last night officially sold her 5 month old c**t, Rodeo, to a friend of mine who will raise him and make him a barrel horse. I am keeping my 2 year old, Rocket and he is leaving for the c**t starter next week.

With that being said, let’s talk about the future. I am NOT getting out of horses. I will still have Rocket and have huge hopes for him. I do plan to futurity him as a 5 year old. I will be moving back home at the beginning of October and going back to my old office job.
My hope is to find some clients in the west valley that are looking for an exercise rider or someone to tune their horses up so I can build my clientele and continue riding and working horses.
SO, if anyone is looking for that in Arizona please keep me in mind! I’m sad to be downsizing but my hope is this small step back will set me up for a huge step forward in the future!

I will definitely still keep you all updated on Reno, River, Rodeo and Rocket and on whatever other horses may come my way.

Rocket bitting up nicely the other day.

I’ve made the decision to send him out to a c**t starter when I get the money due to the fact that I just don’t have the tools or experience to do right by him right now. But I’m excited to learn so that in the future I will have the experience to do it myself
