PSA: IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR CHILD!! …. (or “dog” if you’re one of those people)

If your baby is losing hair in chunks, you have wispy golden tumbleweeds cluttering your floors or you are finding an abnormal amount of golden hairs in your mouth —— this post is for you. Also you should just keep reading anyway.

Congratulations!! It’s SHEDDING SEASON
This is about the time of year our babies lose their winter coat. Don’t worry they don’t have cancer, alopecia or any other life threatening disorder,, they’re just preparing for the warmer weather ☀️

ALSO — if you’re pup was born in Josie’s second litter (12/1/2022), you’ve won a special prize!! Not only is your pride & joy losing its winter coat… the puppy coat is leaving too since they’re a big kid now. YAY for double shedding!

THE IMPORTANT PART:
our floofy friends are not quite the animals their ancestors were. Goldens in the past removed their second coat with help of their environments by getting it caught in the brush (running through fields, forests, etc while hunting). Unless you plan on providing your baby with an air conditioned dog house ——> it is essential you help with this to prevent heat stroke this summer. Plus less of the fluff will end up on your floor. We love a good “two birds one stone” situation.
Now is an excellent time to take your pup to the groomer for a spring freshen up! With all my personal golden experience and research in the past 10+ years, I am able to groom my floofy butt at home. And I’d be willing to bet he has the floofiest buns out of all of Josie’s babies. If anyone wants any tips (what brush to use, what order to go in, etc) or want me to share the entire Finn’s Clean Boi routine comment on this post! And feel free to share with any of your golden moms or dads that aren’t following this page 🙂.

P.S. ALSO VERY IMPORTANT - Please for the love of dog, do not shave your golden. They are double coated animals which allows them to self regulate their temperature. Shaving them removes their sweater for cool spring & summer nights. They will be just fine with their natural coat! Also… if you think of their ancestors… they did just fine without someone shaving their coat. If you need some tips on how to keep your pup cool during the summer, I’m your gal! Just PLEASE don’t shave them. It will also never grow back the same. The “fluff” you know now will never return 🥹

This is exactly why we never allow a family to take home two puppies from a litter. A reputable breeder would never allow this.
