One of the most wonderful things about horsemanship and the equestrian sport is that we will never stop learning! Taking lessons and watching others take lessons can teach you such valuable skills as a rider.

Thank you to MPM Sport Horses for a great training session last week!

Riding is a privilege. So often as Equestrians do we get caught up in the barn chores, difficult rides, comparing our journeys with other horse and rider pairs. But the truth is, simply being around these amazing animals is a beautiful blessing. Being granted the opportunity to ride on their backs is a privilege we often overlook. Remember today that if you spend time around horses at all, at any capacity - you are blessed 💛

Why the Thoroughbred? ✨
I grew up on and have learned a lot of my skills for riding on the Thoroughbred and OTTB. They were the horses that I seemed to always have the most access to (and the finances to afford). From leasing to owning, and helping train a multitude of them either for adoption or for private owners - they have been the breed that has shaped me the most in my career with horses. A few things I love most about the Thoroughbred are their heart, strong work ethic, desire to please, and their personality. Especially for the OTTB, there is something adventurous and inspiring about coming alongside them to find their potential in a new career other than the one that they were originally bred to do - race. If you ride a Thoroughbred, you can understand how it takes a special kind of feel and finesse to authentically connect and build relationship with them. Their idiosyncrasies can point out pieces of our own heart and character - desirable or not. Not many horses would have the drive and the heart to enthusiastically learn a new vocation after their previous job, but the Thoroughbred does - and they prove it as a whole, time and time again. There are so many fantastic breeds of horse out there, but one in particular shines so bright to me - and that is the Thoroughbred.

Equestrians, if you are training this week 💪🏻 - it is going to be warmer than usual! Here are a couple of tips to keep you and your horse cool! 😎
• Stay hydrated! 💦 Along with water, intake an electrolyte mixture that is low on sugar. You can also find electrolyte powders specifically made for your horse and offer them a small bucket of water with the electrolyte mix after your ride.
• Consider your ride time 🕑 What time of day are you riding, and are you riding in direct sunlight? Maybe choose to ride in a well ventilated indoor arena to minimize direct sun exposure.
• ”Rule of 150” ☀️ If the temperature outside and humidity percentage both add up to be over 150, consider scheduling your ride for a different time. If your horse is conditioned to be ridden in a hot/humid environment and they are fit to do so, it may not be a problem for them. But if they are not conditioned to ride in a hot/humid environment, your ride may need rescheduling.

So thankful for such beautiful summer weather!

This is Cash owned by client, Lori Swain!

Cash is a 5 year old Friesian cross who we believe will be a dressage star someday. Cash loves to take it easy, and is still learning the ropes undersaddle. Cash is available for half lease and lessons for an intermediate/advanced or advanced rider. Message me for more details about Cash - he is such a stunning boy! ☀️

Throwback Thursday ✨ Megan and Art Of Diplomacy jumping bridleless in Ocala in 2015. Riding a horse without a bridle requires much training, a strong relationship between horse & rider, patience and understanding. It took Megan & Art well over a year to accomplish this type of bridleless riding. Please do not attempt unless under the guidance of a professional.

Remy had her best training ride to date today. She’s been in training with me since mid March of this year. The amount of confidence she has gained in the last several months has been remarkable.
I am so grateful for the opportunities the Lord has given me to help others and their horses work towards their goals 💛
Thank you for the photo Debbie Moskalsky!
