We have had a lot of queries about upcoming litters. We lost our entire website awhile back and have been slow to re-create it, so for now it is easier to update here.

Mastiffs - we do not anticipate any future litters here at QuietWood. At our ages, it is difficult to deal with the challenges of breeding Mastiffs. Our last litter was co-bred almost 7 years ago. Our boy "Thor" from that litter is currently being loved and handled by a friend in PA. Thor is available for stud and may have some upcoming litters.

Spinoni - we hope to have a litter later in 2024 and if it works out as planned, we will be very excited about it. We already have a waiting list for the pups that may be available to hunting/companion homes. We do not anticipate having any available as show/breeding prospects.

Please be aware that you may see litters (of either breed) out there in the world that have QuietWood dogs in the pedigree. Do not assume that we endorse those litters. Always do your due diligence before acquiring a puppy from anyone.

We are pretty excited around here.

The bad news is Willow had two (ONLY TWO) lovely brown babies.

We hate not being able to make everyone on our wait list happy with a puppy sooner than later. We know you can't wait forever. Next planned litter will be Peg hopefully the first half of this year.

*Puppies & Vaccinations*
We're doing something new with the upcoming Willow litter (Spinone). Willow is co-owned with Amy Thompson and High Pines Spinoni. I have researched this the past several litters, but thanks to Amy, this time we are actually doing it. We have Willow's results and will be using the information to do our very best to protect the puppies with properly timed vaccinations.

Most of us just do what our vets tell us to do without true understanding of why they make the recommendations they do.

For those of you interested in this (as puppy owners or as fellow breeders), I'll share Willow's results.

Canine Nomograph – What is it? A nomograph is an estimate of the amount of antibody passed to a litter of pups from the mother via her colostrum. During the puppy’s first hours of life, its intestinal tract is able to allow colostral antibody to be absorbed into the bloodstream. This passive ant...

Spinone Puppies are coming. We have a pretty long waiting list, but hopefully we'll have another litter this coming summer.

This is the mom to be, Willow.
Dad...well Dad is to be determined. We purposely did a dual-sired breeding with our boy Caro, and Oliver (owned by Susie Ruth). So we will have to DNA everyone to determine baby daddies.

Pups due Jan 10th or there abouts.

Breeding and Showing Mastiffs & Spinoni Italiani

We started showing Mastiffs in 1997 and we were hooked. Shortly after the Spinone Italiano was granted regular status with AKC, we got our first girl (2001). We continue to show and breed both of these wonderful breeds. We welcome people to come and meet the breeds and are always available to answer questions about the breeds and our specific dogs.

Bonnie is an approved breed mentor for the parent clubs of each breed and judged at AKC conformation events for approximately 7 years.
