We make it easy! Potty training 🐶
Puppy is started at 4 weeks introduced to grass potty pad and crate for bedtime by a heated blanket inside. We follow the exact same schedule sent home.
Follow our easy instructions.
1. Follow puppy den setup instructions.
2. Do not wake up over night with your puppy! Very important. This creates bad habits.
3. Puppies will cry especially in a new home. Use a sound machine , cover crate with sheet or crate cover, use a high reward treat only for crate/ puppy den ( any time they go in there)
4. Potty after meals, waking. Super excited praise only for potty time. You can mark a place in the grass with a small yard flag where you go each time.
5. Don’t close crate door until holding overnight/ not using grass pad over night.
6. Easier yet. Feed outside all meals. I have my coffee or snacks outside while pups eat and then we go to grass.
If you're a new puppy parent, you might be wondering how to tackle the daunting task of potty training your furry friend. Well, fear not! We're here to share a tried and tested method that has worked wonders for many pup parents - using a crate and a gated puppy playpen.
Here's how it works:
Get a crate that's big enough for your pup to stand up and turn around in, but not so big that they can use one end as a bathroom.
Use the crate for naps and bedtime, and take your pup outside immediately after they wake up to do their business.
If you can't keep a close eye on your pup during the day, use a gated puppy playpen to give them a safe space to play and rest.
Take your pup outside regularly, especially after meals and naps, and praise them when they go potty outside.
When your pup has accidents inside, don't scold them - just clean it up and try to take them outside more often.
Remember, potty training takes time and patience, but with consistency and positive reinforcement, your pup will learn quickly. Good luck!
