With hunting season coming up remember-
There are dozens of how-to videos showing exactly how to skin your deer out

Dont leave very much neck meat attached to the head and then freeze it, it takes forever to thaw enough to skin and the ears/nose/ lips thaw almost immediately

Never put a cape/head in the freezer warm, let it cool first by hanging it and getting it in front of moving air

Keep it dry! Bacteria loves water even if it’s 33 degrees. If theres some blood on the cape remove it as best you can with dry paper towels, dont hose it down!
(Side note- don’t wash out the inside of the body cavity after gutting it either, it does nothing but spread bacteria)

Every year I get animals in that haven’t been skun out or handled properly, I can only stop bacteria in its tracks I can’t reverse the damage it’s already done.

Sometimes it takes a while to find the animal after it’s been shot and that happens, we’ll do the best we can from that point. But in general you will be much happier with your finished mount if you handle the animal properly!
