Fixed up Kevin solo tonight after he lost his favorite girl Reba. Kevin is seven years old and part of the original first group of first rescues. So was Reba so it was a heavy hit. I’ll fix the rest of the group up hopefully. Some sort of fungal infection. How they got it I don’t know. exhausted is an understatement. It’s been a rough week.
The transition of summer to winter is always tough on these birds and usually comes with some sort of issues.
Kevin…. My beloved ostrich! lol
Such a good boy, especially in his old age, He even gets along with Neptune roaming free together.
No more flogging you from behind. 🤣

If you lose a bird or a farm animal during the transition of summer to winter, don’t be too hard on yourself. It happens especially when the animals get older and no matter how hard you try. When they’re with us, just give them lots of love and watermelon.❤️

Florida friends In the current hurricanes path get a Tent,pack and play, puppy enclosed play pen etc and prepare to bring the birds inside. It does not have to be for long. Only during the storm for those who don’t like the idea of it. The high winds and rain will rip the tarps etc.
you would be better off leaving the coops as is and bringing them in.
2 laundry baskets one on top of another with zip ties also works temporarily and can hold many at a time for a short period of time. 
Rabbits can go into pet carriers.
Cats should go into pet carrier also. Caching a scared cat in an emergency isn’t ideal.
Prepare for the worst hope for the best.
Don’t wait. Get your supplies now!

If anyone is in need of help for TEMP housing of animals in areas that are safe inside the cone area please reach out.

If anyone is able to house temporarily small animals or birds or any animals that can stay in cages in safe nearby areas please reach out to me so I can help place animals appropriately in need of help. For safety reasons no aggressive animals.

Let’s all help each other through what looks like could be a catastrophe. Placing animals displaced is an absolute nightmare as you can see from the previous storm.
