🐀 Up Coming Litters! 🐀

• Seal Point Siamese!
• Martens! (Black / Russian Blue / Agouti / Russian Blue Agouti)

Both are lines I have been working on for a few generations now. The Siamese is in its 9th generation and the martens are in the 5 & 6th generation!! 🖤

Siamese updated.
Pairing seems to have gone smoothly. He did his thang. Or well let's hope he did. We will be keeping a eye on our girl and see how it goes.

We should get darker points and dumbos in this pairing.
To say I'm excited is like a under statement. I am beyond excited. This line means a lot to me personally. My very first Siamese girl "mama rat" who started my Siamese line 7 genes back ....and now we are working harder and harder at the temperaments of this line and the health. So far I have been so pleased with it. Best like I have.

Well hello y'all, 🐀
I have some bad news. First.... The other day we lost our oldest rat. The one who started my Siamese line. She was almost 4 years old. Best rat I had. She would come to me when I would call for her. She would give the best kisses. I honestly am really hurt over losing my girl. I love my rat babies like they are my children and for this to happen .. it really upset me. And made me think about a lot. 🙁
Things will be changing with the rattery. I will update everyone once I think it all through. Please be patient. I am trying to balance a lot right now.
-Things that could be changing. Such as what we breed. And focus our time on. Some lines will stay and some will go. -

With that said. We will not be breeding mice! Why?, Well every time I would touch them or change their bedding. I would break out so bad. I tried wearing gloves, but it didn't work. I tried washing my hands right away. I would still break out real bad. And it just seemed like it wasn't meant to be. Until further notice, none are available. They will be staying with my daughter who has agreed to take on all care for them. Please understand that my health comes first. Yes, I loved it as long as it lasted. But, like I said it was not meant to be. Just like guinea pigs and rabbits. I can't touch them, or nothing to do with them without breaking out to the point it hurts me and I can't stand it. I'm sorry if I upset anyone by picking to not breed them. I hope you understand. But, we will be breeding rats. That will not change.

So, with that said ... I am still pairing my Seal point Siamese. They have been put together. This litter will mean a lot to me. This is the 7th generation of my Seal point Siamese line. Can't wait to see how it goes. I will be keeping almost the whole litter. But, if you are interested in the Siamese. Please message me. I have a few slots open and will have a few available after I make up my mind about who I'm keeping.

Please read if you have rats and dogs!

IMPORTANT PSA

Please be cautious, as there is evidence that the nasal Bordetella vaccine for dogs is contagious to rats!

I have been researching this for months and consulting vets and other breeders before making this post. This is what I believe and have seen evidence for, but draw the conclusions you are comfortable with and make the choices you wish.

There have been multiple instances where the intranasal Bordetella vaccine has been linked to Bordetella outbreaks in pet rats - situations where breeders and pet owners got their dog vaccinated and their rats came down with Bordetella shortly after. I feel this information should be shared so people can be aware that it may be a risk, and make decisions for themselves on how to handle it. The nasal Bordetella vaccine for dogs contains modified live bacteria and recently vaccinated dogs may be able to infect rats. Bordetella is very deadly in pet rats and it is a very serious health risk.

This is not meant to cause fear. Continue to vaccinate your dogs if you wish, continue to own dogs and rats. This is a cautionary post so people can make an informed decision for themselves on whether to separate dogs and rats shortly after vaccinating. If you do not believe the vaccine is a risk at all, that is totally fine - no one should shame you for your decisions and you can draw your own conclusions.

I didn't want to make this post too long and intimidating, so I've split off some info into the comments. In the comments you'll find a list of common questions and answers, as well as updates on how this is affecting my rattery and the updated timeline of my quarantine.

We have paired our "Seal Point Siamese!" 🐀
Just put the female with the male yesterday. Really can't wait. This will be the 8th generation of this line. I have been working hard to make the points darker. And I'm hoping that soon they will be where I like them to be. 🤞 Fingers crossed.

Mother: Black Mismarked self, dumbo. Standard.
Father: Blue Marten, Variegated. Dumbo. Standard.

All babies will be available for adoption to "PET ONLY!" homes. I took on mother and father from a friend and part of the deal was the babies be pet only. And I like to keep my word. They are all dumbo. And should be the sweetest things ever. The mother of them is so sweet she even gives kisses.

Well it is confirmed that 3 of our female mice are pregnant!! 🐁

This is new to us & very exciting. We are hoping this goes good & we can continue to breed mice as well as rats. Fingers crossed!🤞

This is just a test. To see how it goes for us. Not really sure if mice are for me. But, I'm willing to try it out.

We have MARTENS!! 🐀
We should get Black / Blue and Agouti martens. In all kinds of markings. From self to hooded to capped. Standard in fur type. Both top and dumbo ears.

RATTY NEWS! 🐀

Sadly, over night Flower a rat we got from another local breeder had passed away in the night. Her and all her babies we had gotten from the breeder had all just sudden passed over the night.😭😭 (Let me add that not one of my rats was housed with these rats. They was all kept separated. But, I will be keeping an eye on my stock as well just in case)
Breeder as stated that all her other babies had passed away also(was 8 weeks when I got mom and babies from her. And she kept about six of them for herself.) in her care. But, she tried to make the passing of mom and babies my fault. When I have done my all to make sure they was in good health.
We tried to talk with this other breeder and sadly sometimes things just don't go as they should. And I will say this, I do not know if I will be working with other breeders for awhile. This experience has been hell. 😭😭
NOW PLEASE DONT MISUNDERSTAND ME. I am NOT BASHING or SPEAKING BAD on said breeder!!
