EMERGENCY FUNDS NEEDED

One of our cats went into respiratory distress tonight. We recognized it immediately and brought them to the emergency clinic. We are unable to clarify any details except that they are stable and receiving treatment.

UPDATE: It was Paw! He has been battling a persistent URI. Paw also has completely come out of his shell as an indoor cat and therefore will be listed up for adoption when he is healthy!

We got her!

Meet Bellatrix. She's the final kitten of the litter we've been trying to bring in for the past couple of weeks—and she gave us a run for our money! She wasn't in the best condition before making it to the rescue, so she's very overwhelmed and scared, but we've been able to get her vetted and on antibiotics. We are looking forward to gaining her trust and making her feel safe while she heals up. Say hi!

We've lucked out today with another two newcomers to the ASC family! Say hello to Scratch and Finn! 🌊

These sweet kittens have the cutest eyes... They almost beat Genny! They're coming in mostly healthy with little upper respiratory infections common in cats this young. Both are currently being treated and should be up for adoption by the end of the month. Who's obsessed?!

Say hello to Apollo! 🌞

This precious boy was found under a house with a collar clipped into his armpit, alone and very frightened. The person who found him cleaned up the wound from the collar as best he could (pictured above) but Apollo is going to be fighting a nasty infection for a little while with a lot of vet treatment. 💉 He is skin and bones and needs all the food we can give him to get him healthy enough to heal.

We named our new resident after his brave, bright Greek mythological twin. We are so looking forward to watching him heal and grow into such a strong name.

He won't be receiving any vaccines or be considered for adoption until he is completely healthy—We want to prioritize this sweet kitten's comfort!

Give the warmest welcome to our newest friend, Blue! 💙

BIG BIG MONDAY AT ASC!!!

We have officially added on two people to our team, Izzy and Harper! They will be taking over social media as I am way too busy with the care of the cats to post everything I would like to. Stay tuned for a tik tok, website, and instagram!

We also have a local artist designing us a logo!!! So stay tuned for that.

4 cats went back to the vet today as well, totaling $250. Please consider helping us out to keep this up.

HUGE NEWS….. Daisy is pregnant! She is expecting in about 2-3 weeks so she will be remaining here until her kittens are born and then she will be fixed and available for adoption along with her kittens!!!!!! Other than this news, she is healthy.

MORE HUGE NEWS!!! Pinto gets to keep his eye, and it was re opened today! Im going to give him a couple days before I post pictures because he’s still getting used to having it open, but the eye looks SO much better. He will have a permanent scar, which looks kind of like a cataract on part of his eye, shielding part of his vision in one eye. This does not affect him at all though and he gets around completely as all the other kittens do. He has also completely fallen in love with Genny, and Genny is head over heals for her protector. They will need to be adopted as a pair. But how can you beat it, one cute as heck grey eye and two giant perfect eyes all in one package! 😻🐾

Missy… her fever got even higher and we think she has a UTI from holding her p*e when we first got her. She is on antibiotics and will be up for adoption in a week!

And then the first cat I took in, Billie, from the shelter here, went back for a vaccine.

Welcome to ASC Daisy! She will go to the vet on Monday. Thank you to the concerned citizen who has housed and loved her so far, I promise we’ve got her now.

Genny and Trixie went to the vet today and got tested for FELV/FIV, something all cats from us have done. As you can see, it’s hard to not fall in love! Those eyes!

PLEASE HELP!! FOUR CATS went to the vet today and we are only able to continue accepting and helping kitties if we have the funds to do so! We get desperate pleas for help often… and it’s so hard to say no.

Guess what? Missy had a surprise. Apparently - she is 13 years old… and she hasn’t been to the vet since 2011! Well little Missy is actually pretty healthy despite needing all of her vaccines and having a fever ( which the vet thinks is from being so stressed ). Missy needs to live out the rest of her live at a quiet home. Missy would do fine with any age applicant, but she is used to living with and elderly person. Her person passed away and we need to find her a place to live out her golden years, as she provided peace and comfort to her owner of 13 years. She is a complete purr box and lap cat. She is incredibly soft and just wants love. She would be best off with someone with no dogs, but another cat would be fine as she has lived her whole life with her sister (Breeze / 5years old and also up for adoption) and she is very subdued. Please consider helping us provide the vet care that she needed today and needs in the future, as she needs a re check in 5 days for her fever and possibly a further evaluation into the fever if it is persistent even on anti anxiety meds. We have an amazon wish list as well as a paypal and venmo, where 100% of proceeds will go towards cats and their care. We would be HAPPY to provide proof of funds being given to good use.

Great news!! and some other news…

Pinto’s eye is healing amazingly and we are extremely positive about him being able to have his eye re opened in about a week. After that, he will be neutered and up for adoption!

Bean has come out of his shell and is no longer “partly feral” like he was when we got him. He has already learned not all humans are so bad! He joined the kitten pile up tonight and LOVED being around the other kitten, Genny. He does have a concerning spot on his eye that wasn’t there last week, so he will also be going to the vet.

Genny is also coming out of her shell! First vet visit went well and she appears healthy.Next appt will check her FELV / FIV / HW status. She seems to really be liking being around other kittens as well, so she has been integrated into the area Pinto and Bean are.

Missy and Breeze…. well… they are certainly mourning the loss of their human. They have been very picky about eating and drinking and Missy required sub-q fluids today 🙁 The good news - they are also starting to relax. They have stopped hissing at me and even let me hold them tonight. Both of them are just a bit older girls who are going to need a little longer to adjust, but we can already tell they are both going to be incredible pets to whoever will love them forever.

Allie is PENDING FOR ADOPTION! This is great! We had a PERFECT a application for her and she will go home after her spay surgery scheduled in a few weeks.

Paw….. well… Paw makes me nervous to adopt out because he is already so used to being an indoor/outdoor cat. We have realized that we really have the perfect spot for him up in the mountains, far away from the road. So! Paw is staying at least for now.

We CANT keep this up without your help! We have even been able to order large multiple level kitty condos for the kittens to keep them safe and spot for Missy and Breeze to settle in while giving them more room than they have now.

PLEASE HELP us keep this up! The requests keep coming from shelters and citizens of Ashe and the surrounding areas who need help. We have to say NO if we don’t have the funds. Meet Missy and Breeze!
UP FOR ADOPTION!

Missy and Breeze are both a bit older girls, breeze being about 4-5, and missy being 6-9. Their human unfortunately passed away and the family reached out for help.

These girls are not super bonded, so they can be adopted separately. They are both already spayed. They are both already declawed as well.

Breeze is a very independent lady, and would do best as an only cat and in a no dog household.

Missy is supposedly a lap cat when she comes out of her shell.

They are both terrified out of their mind, and would really do well in a quiet household. Please send us a message if you are interested in either Missy or Breeze!

Ya know how we said we were full? Guess we can’t say no. I promise you this time we are 100% FULL and can not accept any new pets. Stay tuned for 2 cute new faces. They’re settling in for tonight and super stressed, so we are going to wait to post their photos.

Wow! Our first week has been insane! 🤯We accepted 4 new cats, and have started vetting all of them. 🥰 Pinto and Bean are doing incredible and really warming up to love, even sniffing my older cats. Genny is still absolutely terrified of everything, so we are still letting her decompress before insisting on human interaction. We can however already tell how sweet she is, letting out little purrs and coming up for chin scratches.

We have spent ~$475 JUST at the vet this week. This does not include all other supplies needed to run this rescue. We are in the process of converting a room into their area for safety and comfort, but again, funds are limited. These cats still need booster shots, some more testing, and whatever else may arise. We are FULL due to limited funds and having to allocate what is left for the ones already here.

Please, if you are able to, donate. I have so many requests to take in more and I truly cannot afford to do so. So many cats are sick and need our help. If you are not able to donate, would you consider sharing our page to your friends and family? Ashe county is a strong community, and I know we as a whole have these cats backs.

Look who’s already feeling better and accepting love!!! Pinto has actually been meowing like crazy today for attention. I was worried it was his eye hurting, so I gave him pain meds and it didn’t change the meowing. So, I scooped him up and cuddled with him and he LOVED IT! He let out his first purr and never stopped. This kitty is going to be an amazing family cat for someone!

Please consider making a donation of any amount to help continue care for Pinto, Paw, Bean, Allie, and General (Genny). We are FULL and can’t take more in until we can get them spayed and fixed up, but we can’t do that without donations. READY FOR ADOPTION PENDING SPAY!

Well… when the call comes out, we sure do try to answer! Dollar General reached out and said that they had a cat who had most likely been dumped at the store, and was now living in the back room for a month. This kitten is only 2 months old at most. We were able to set a humane trap, and within 15 minutes, GOT HER! As such, we have named her General (Genny)! She will be going to the vet in the morning and we are DESPERATELY LOW on vet funds. Each cat requires testing, bloodwork, vaccinations, preventatives, spay/neuter, food… etc. We are now FULL and are giving 100% to the 4 cats in our home. Most of them have upper respiratory infections among other issues as well. PLEASE consider helping us out, whether it be a donation or getting something off of our wish list. We can not keep this up without you!

Meet PAW! Paw came into the rescue today and is already fixed and vetted, so he is up for adoption!

According to his last owner, Paw is friendly with other cats, dogs, kids, and is trained to not jump on counters 🤯

All adoptions include FELV FIV testing, spay/neuter, and UTD on vaccines. There is a $100 non refundable adoption fee, or $50 with a vet recommendation. Send us a message if you think Paw is right for your family! 😻

THIS IS WHY WE NEED DONATIONS!

Poor little Pinto had been outdoors his whole life. He developed an eye infection which turned into an occular ulcer. When we got to him, it was almost too late to save the eye. We are of course giving him every shot at a happy life though, so he was immediately brought to the vet today where he was also diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. His brother, Bean, also has an URI but is otherwise healthy.

The vet and I decided to be aggressive at treating this eye infection, as the vet stated “another week and there wouldn’t have been an eye to save” - so it has temporarily been sewn shut while we can heavily treat with oral and topical antibiotics. HOPEFULLY - in 14 days his eye will have healed enough to re open it, and he will be able to keep the eye. Worst case scenario…. we are looking at surgery to remove the eye.

Pinto is a sweet little man who just needed some help. He did amazing at the vet today for being “semi-feral”, just showing that with some love and attention he will be an amazing house cat. He’s already letting me hold him and give him some much deserved love.

PLEASE HELP! VET BILLS COMING TOMORROW

Everyone give a big welcome to “Pinto” (tabby) and “Bean” (grey)! They just arrived today and are not extremely thrilled about human interaction. They are about 6 months old and just need some warming up. They’ve already received flea/tick treatment (thanks to YOUR donations🥹) and have full bellies!!! They will be going to the vet tomorrow to get checked out, and to get Pinto’s eye checked out as it dosent look great. ADOPTION PENDING

Meet ALLIE!!!

Allie was rescued from animal control after her and her litter mates were found as strays! She is about 14 weeks old, weighs 3 lbs, is FELV & FIV Negative, however is NOT spayed yet. She is UTD on FVRCP and will be receiving her rabies shot this week. We are waiting for donations to be able to spay her, however are willing to adopt her to someone that is willing to pay a $40 refundable deposit which will be returned after proof of spay.

ALL kitten adoptions require either a non refundable $100 adoption fee, or a $50 adoption fee with a vet recommendation letter.

Everyone, meet our namesake and beloved late family member, Aladdin. Aladdin was rescued from the shelter in 2019. He was a HUGE chunk who had all the love in the world to give. Everyone that met him said that he was their favorite cat they ever met - which was true for me too. Poor boy was in rough shape when I got him, FIV+, broken tail, matted and dirty, etc… A couple weeks later… you wouldn’t recognize him. His turn around is what made me fall in love with rescuing sickly cats and has given me the motivation to help in Ashe County.

Aladdin, your purrs are still missed everyday and I hope we are making you proud. Love you, buddy. 🖤
