It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Rita Barrick passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025. Rita and her husband George have been members of TROD since its' inception.

Many of us "older" members share memories of Rita and her horse Goldie, when they boarded at Kingsway Stables in Winfield. There were many trail rides, camping adventures and fun times. Does anyone remember that Goldie would fold-up when Rita saddled her? It was a process that Rita patiently worked through.

In addition to her love of horses, Rita was a lover of all animals. She was always rescuing creatures in need and retired from DuPage County Animal Services after 15 years of service.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 8th from 5 - 8 pm at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home - 565 Duane Street - Glen Ellyn. All our welcomed to gather at the funeral home the next day (Wednesday) at 10 am to proceed to Forest Hills Cemetery in Glen Ellyn.

Our heartfelt condolences George. May your heart heal and be filled with sweet memories of that sassy lady of yours for 42 years. May you feel the thoughts and prayers of so many. We will miss her.

JULY 3rd Parade Cancelled.

The parade coordination team has made the decision to withdraw from the Warrenville July 3rd parade due to the high heat index.

We have always enjoyed participating in this parade, but the safety and health of horses and riders comes first. Thank you to all that volunteered to participate - maybe next year??

TROD will be participating once again in the Warrenvillle - July 3rd evening parade. Kick off time 6:00 pm. This parade has always been fun with its' hometown/community feel and enthusiasm from the town in our appearance.

We are looking for volunteers. Riders, walkers, and manure pick-up. If you are willing to help, either reply to us via our email: [email protected] or contact our parade coordinator Kelli Nothacker at (630) 418-1643. Thank you Kelli for heading this up and your enthusiasm and creativity.

The theme this year is "America's Movie Magic". I see some brainstorming of great ideas. Someone has already said that the Lone Ranger and Tonto will be there. Hi Ho Silver Away!!!

April 26th Come Help with Prairie Path & Great Western Trails Cleanup. Let's show the community that equestrians appreciate our trails! Meet at Route 59 & North Ave.
