Winter is officially here! Busting ice, feeding hay, and thawing out hoses and hydrant season yippie! Hay and stockpiled grass are significantly lacking in nutrients present in growing grass so your livestock likely need a little supplement to keep those rumen bug digesting properly. Like us most are a little busy for one reason or another and may not be able to feed every day or every other day so we have a selection of tubs to help with challenging schedules! We have big blocks and tubs for cows, tubs for calves, sheep, goats and horses! All our tubs and blocks have mineral baked right in so you don’t have to feed mineral if you don’t want to(however mineral can help decrease tub/block consumption). One of the best ways to make the most of your winter feeding program is to make sure you’re not loosing energy to internal parasites(WORMS)! However, it can be hard to find the time to get your cattle up to deworm them so we’ve got a great option in our safe-guard range cubes. You don’t need a feed bunk, you can spread them out to help with the boss cow factor, and you can watch to make sure all the cows are eating it! Each 50lb bag treats 7 cows. We call it “The Big Block”

If you’ve driven by the new Warsaw Vet Clinic and feed store and walked in wondering about the big white marshmallow looking things on the front porch wondering “what the heck” you’re not alone! These are 2100-2200 lb blocks designed for supplementing your cows on stockpiled pasture or hay. They are 18% protein and packed with energy. They are designed to reduce hay consumption by 6lbs/hd/day. They have an AP5 probiotic pack to enhance gut health for optimal digestion and garlic as a fly repellant for those feeding them during fly season. They have a full mineral pack in them but we recommend feeding your normal free choice mineral and salt to help maintain normal consumption rates. Simply set it out in your pasture and roll down the sides as the cows eat it.

Often times when animals have health issues the root cause isn’t a bacteria or virus! They may be causing the symptoms but the reason they’re there can be a weakened immune system. One of the causes of a weakened immune system is poor nutrition. The smaller the animal the more concentrated the nutrients have to be because they can’t eat as much volume(a good reason to select deep bodied animals). Our 20% sheep feed from Kent feeds is ideal for creep feeding young lambs to optimize the space they have. It’s also a great option for supplementing ewes raising lambs or helping them through the winter on stockpiled pasture or hay because you’ll have to feed less of it than most other feeds!
