Our Story
The story so far…
On June 15th, 2018, the first signs of the deadly virus known only as “Chimera” became public knowledge as a series of violent attacks overwhelmed a small college community in Manchester, NH. It was not long before this isolated incident spread to biblical proportions and overwhelmed much of the eastern United States.
On July 18th, 2018, the President of the United States of America declared a national state of emergency but unfortunately it was far too late. The virus, codenamed “Chimera”, had overwhelmed the much of the nation and was spreading rapidly… too rapidly.
By the beginning of August 2018, the population of the United States had been reduced by over 70%. Those who survived had somehow proven immune to the blight, but were now faced with a new challenge; facing off the seemingly endless hordes of those who had been infected by the disease. The problem was that Chimera did not kill its victims; it reduced them to mindless, ravenous beasts bent on consuming flesh – regardless of the source.
For reasons as yet unknown, the infected would not harm each other. However, if any living creature, human or animal, came within sensory range the infected humans would attack with reckless abandon and tear the unfortunate creature to shreds.
For a time it seemed that headway was being made, and there was even the slightest chance of ultimate victory of the human survivors against the ravening hordes of “zombies”, but this hope was short lived. On August 31st, 2018, the US Military released information that the Chimera virus had mutated in a unprecedented way. Now hard to contain by any means, the Chimera virus had broken into three strains. Those who were immune to the virus originally remained immune to any of the three strains when exposed individually, but when exposed to all three at once, there was no protection and they were susceptible to infection. Renamed "Cerberus" by what remained of structured society, the survivors had a new enemy to fear.
Now bolstered, the Cerberus virus began to spread again. This time, those who were previously immune became warped and mutated versions of the previous “zombies”, and were overwhelmed by the illness. Days later much of the resistance force across the US had been wiped out. Now reduced to small cells of organized survivors, the few who remain roam the devastated areas they once called home, looking for a way out of their waking nightmare…
