Hi. Most of our community knows that the Tails & Trails Halloween event is on October 15th from 11-3. This event is a partnership of Threads, Hope & Love and The Washington Park District.
Our Washington Rotary will be preparing most of our food.
But we are in need of donations of soda and bottled water. If anyone can donate soda or water, we would really appreciate it. It would need to be dropped off at Threads, Hope & Love on Tuesday between 11-6 so we can refrigerate it for the 15th.

I’ve loved cats since I was a toddler. This girl, Molly Jane is 8 years old and developed a terrible allergy. She couldn’t stop chewing on her tail base and her belly. It has taken 2 years and lots of different foods to figure out why she’s had to have a ‘donut’ on for nearly 2 years. She’s finally free and we’re down to one spot that’s healing.
Allergies! Chicken, soy, peas and legumes!!! I have spent late nights researching cat food ingredients until I fell asleep. She’s even on Prozac to calm her down.
Peas are in almost every pet food, because it’s a cheap filler, so is soy and most legumes.
But peas are bought hard and dry, added to cat foods and in almost all of them. Cats intestines are shorter and can’t properly digest this, even though it’s so small. It causes an issue in the lining and comes out as irritation on their stomach, abdomen and tail base! AND It took me nearly 2 years of research to finally fine an article about it. Wow.
The only dry cat food free of all of the things that cause her issues is Inception cat food. Luckily my other cat are fine when I have to shift food brands. And also luckily, it’s not as expensive as some of the foods we’ve tried.
So now they are on Inception dry fish recipe cat food and love it.
Molly is getting healthier every day.
Just thought I would post this in case anyone is struggling with allergies.

WOW! Things are looking great for the Tails & Trails Event in Washington Park, September 18th 10-3!
This is a partnership of Threads, Hope & Love NFP and the Washington Park District. Threads, Hope & Love NFP in Washington will use their profit toward the mission to help low income families get free assistance for clothing and thousands of other needs. The Washington Park District profit goes to improvements at the local dog park in Washington.
If you are interested in being a vendor, please message me about your product. Then we can send you your paperwork asap for you to register. The vendor spaces are 10x10, $30, you bring your own popup and chairs. Its a great way to spend 5 hours having your product displayed at a family event! Hope to hear from lots more than already registered! Vendor booths are on black top, so it's easier to walk and set up.
We have excellent food available that day from several trucks and organizations. SO COME FOR LUNCH.
Bring your family and relax, bring chairs if you'd like and enjoy the park.
The event begins at 10am. Their will be a Rainbow bridge to sign with your names of all past pets that you loved. There will be a blessing of the dogs before the dog walk at 12:30. This gives church attenders plenty of time to come and eat before their walks.
If you haven't signed up to walk your dog through the park path, please message me with your home address and I will send you the paperwork asap. The walk is $30 and you receive a bag with your awesome t-shirt, a dog bandana, gifts for the pup and other merch.
We truly hope to make this event a regular annual family day in the park.
We are arranging for kids activities too!
Threads will be selling extra t-shirts, bandanas and other doggo goodies at their tent. Also, freshly made fudge and popcorn to enjoy as you spend a fall day in the park.
Several local shelter and rescues will be onsite in case you are ready to invite a new pup or cat into your family. You will find them under a row of trees, in the shade, so come and meet them.
We have a great number of wonderful sponsors to display on the backs of the shirts! If you would like to promote your business, email me for more information. You can sponsor for $50-$150 for your name/company or $200+ for your LOGO on the top area on the t-shirts. Very inexpensive and permanent advertising. WOW! This event is going to be great! We've had a meeting with the Washington Park District so we can start making plans for all of the details. We are 3 months out.
We've decided to have the vendors, food trucks and foster animals in a more level area for our guests walking, eating and shopping. We will be set up in a very large paved area with trees at the edge for the pups and kitties. We are seeing how many rescue groups we can gather for the event.
We have changed the time for the actual walk to 12:30 so people have time after church to get to the park for the food, walk and all of the vendors.
We are still open for more vendors currently, if your interested, text me at 309-303-0205 with your information. Then I can get the paperwork to you by mail.
We need tons more walkers with their dogs to sign up for the walk.
I will continue to give new details as they grow. message me and I can send out your paperwork.
Please don't miss this event. If you love big vendor fairs, this will be a great one! Lots of dog merch vendors, some that actually sell all over the country from small things to huge cool merch.
So much creativity.
We will also be introducing the new mobile vet to the area. That will be a blessing for many people that can not get their pet to a vet on their own.
REMEMBER , THE PROFITS ALL GO TO 2 PLACES- THREADS, HOPE & LOVE NFP AND THE WASHINGTON PARK DISTRICT FOUNDATION. The Park District is using their profits toward the Dog Park.
Please plan September 18th for a family day in the park.
