WWAS Pets This is an independent community page that aids WWAS residents to find adopters through social media. These funds provide for the operation of the shelter only.

WWAS is a rural shelter located about 40 miles east of Athens. We specialize in both cat and dog adoptions and occasionally small animal adoptions. We only accept owner surrenders and/or strays from Wilkes County residents. The shelter is funded by the City of Washington and Wilkes County. The Washington Wilkes Humane Association (WWHSA) was created to help with expenses ( medical surgeries, spay

, neuter, vaccinations, etc.) not covered by the City/County funding. The WWHSA is a 501(c)3 and all donations are tax deducible.

FIND A HOME FRIDAY!!
Barkleigh has been at the shelter for six months and still hasn't found her forever home. She got a pass from the shelter and went to the square, a new experience for her and she did great. She spent most of her time just taking in all the scents and sounds. She is super sweet, affectionate, willing to go and do whatever you want, gets along with other dogs, people ( including kids) friendly, walks well on a leash, rides well in a car ( but needs more training on loading up). She is 2-3 years old, Shar Pei mix, 55 lbs., current on her vaccinations and heartworm negative. As with all of our dogs and cats, we will spay and microchip her.
If you would like to meet Barkleigh, please call the shelter at 706-678-2287. The shelter is located at 358 Brown Rd. Washington, GA and the hours are Tuesday-Friday 9-2 and Saturday 9-12.
