WWAS Pets

WWAS Pets This is an independent community page that aids WWAS residents to find adopters through social media. These funds provide for the operation of the shelter only.

WWAS is a rural shelter located about 40 miles east of Athens. We specialize in both cat and dog adoptions and occasionally small animal adoptions. We only accept owner surrenders and/or strays from Wilkes County residents. The shelter is funded by the City of Washington and Wilkes County. The Washington Wilkes Humane Association (WWHSA) was created to help with expenses ( medical surgeries, spay

, neuter, vaccinations, etc.) not covered by the City/County funding. The WWHSA is a 501(c)3 and all donations are tax deducible.

FIND A HOME FRIDAY!!!
Arlo took a trip to the square last week and did really well. He and Mr. Danny spent some time walking around the square so Arlo could take in the sights and smells of something other than the shelter. Arlo is a 1-2 year old black Lab mix, weighs 45-50 lbs., is current with his vaccinations and heartworm negative. We will neuter and chip him. He didn't know how to load up in the car, but once in he did great. No barking or whining , just hanging out in the space between driver and passenger making sure we obeyed the laws๐Ÿคฃ He walks well on a leash, is good with other dogs and good with kids. If you would be interested in fostering or adopting him, please call the shelter at 706-678-2287. If you can't foster or adopt, please SHARE,SHARE,SHARE and let others know he is available and would make a great pet.

UPDATE: He is home!!!Missing dog from North Elijah Clark Area. If you have info, please contact 912-483-8862.

Moca is one scared, little Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. She came in as a stray and being in a loud, noisy shelter is definitely out of her comfort zone. She is friendly, but nervous and it takes a minute for her to warm up to you. She is good with other dogs. She could definitely benefit from a foster, if she can't be adopted right now, but one that has a quieter environment and no young children. Once away from the shelter , she should blossom and her personality come out. She is one year old and weighs right at 8 lbs. She has had vaccinations, but still needs to be heartworm tested, spayed and chipped. If you can help this girl out, give the shelter a call at 706-678-2287. The shelter will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9-2 and Saturday 9-12.
