Waylon had his final private session today and passed his CGC Test. Congrats Waylon, and onto the next level. His next goal is Therapy, so we will start with a group class to fine tune working with other dogs & get through some of the adolescent phase and then into Therapy Prep.

Wicket had a session today, we decided on a shopping trip at Home Depot given the temps and wind outside. He worked on heeling with stops at end of aisles, ignoring people, greeting with permission, we did some noise practice because he struggles some with the moving distraction part of Canine Good Citizen. He also did a nice wait after greeting a person who stood and talked with us. Then a wait in the lobby while we waited on his "dad" to come out. We also added a place on this orange cart and a paws up on it. And got these photos of his booties and snowsuit. I love when client listen and Boot train their pups, great for so many reasons.

Long Video (3 mins) but I took Armani with me today to do some demo and distraction work for a couple client lessons. We had about an hours worth of downtime in between them due to a cancelation, so we did some practice.
Included is a 50+ ft down/stay with recall, 50+ ft down/stay with an "emergency stop", and some heel practice on the same long line. Thats the longest part of the video, as I was waiting for him to lose focus to allow me to switch directions on him. He doesn't lose focus often and even when he does, he checks in so frequently he notices right away and is immediately back to heel, even with a total of 56 ft of lead attached.
I must say, I am proud. At less than a year and a half old and very limited amount of free time to do set sessions like this...this boy knocks my socks off everytime I take him along or practice ourselves.

Smarty Paws K9 University

My name is Christen Cupler, I have been training dogs professionally for 10 years but have been involved with animals and dogs for the bulk of my life in one way or another. In my training career I have worked with over 1000 dogs of all ages and sizes. I do basic, advanced, all levels of Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog, behavioral modification for barking, reactivity, noise fears, and some other common issues, and some Service Dog training. I started Smarty Paws K9U in 2013 under the name of Paws Up .... I did change the name because I found it was far too common. I did very little advertising at the time due to a full time job at the time where I also “trained” . I left said job and went full force with launching Smarty Paws K9 University full scale this year. I hope to add more services to my list in time with the goal of opening a location.
