The K9 handler for a decorated war hero is coming to the Alaska Working Dog Conference!

Julian Trent McDonald was a Special Operations Handler who took part in more than 300 missions, resulting in 43 apprehensions and 10 IED detections. He is well known for working with Layka, the Belgian Malinois who lost a leg in combat and eventually landed on the cover of National Geographic magazine.

McDonald also served 2 years as the Head K9 Instructor for Special Operations, training more than 250 K9s in apprehension, room clearing, explosive breaching and detection, tracking, and area searches.

And, yes, that's him with Channing Tatum 🤩 McDonald was the Kennel Master and military consultant for Tatum's film "Dog" in 2022.

He is just one of many K9 professionals, handlers, and enthusiasts who will join us on November 9 at the Egan Center in Anchorage.

🐕 16 years of experience training law enforcement and military working dogs.

🎥 Featured in HBO's "War Dogs" documentary, Donovan owns Jäger K9 LLC, specializing in K9 training.

🇺🇸 He served 7.5 years in the U.S. Army's 1st Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment, deploying eight times to combat zones, including five as a K9 handler.

🌟 After leaving the Army, he joined the Austin Police Department as a K9 handler in the Street Narcotics unit.
