Merry Christmas!! 🐾❤️💚🐾. I started a tradition a few years back of picking one of my tabbies and telling them a Christmas story. I started with my sweet Paisley (who passed away in 2018) This year I picked Raziel (who I rescued last Christmas), Jinxx (rescued from my yard last year), Rose, Gary (rescued by in her neighborhood) and Theodore (rescued by ).
Mommy—Tell me the baby Jesus story of why there is an “M” on my head.

One of the most popular legends of the “M” on tabby cats’ foreheads goes back to the birth of Jesus and the exchange shared between Mary, the mother of Jesus, and a cat. Right after the birth of Jesus, Mary had placed Jesus in a bed of hay. However, the hay didn’t provide enough warmth, and baby Jesus began to shiver and cry from the cold. Mary asked all the animals in the manger to huddle together to garner more warmth, but the manger still remained too cold.

A small tabby, who witnessed the scene, decided to step in and lay next to baby Jesus. The cat cuddled with baby Jesus and purred a lullaby that soothed and comforted him. Jesus stopped crying and drifted off to sleep. In her gratitude, Mary stroked the cat’s head and marked her initial upon the tabby’s forehead to forever remind the world that one of their kind had comforted baby Jesus. Catstar.com

And this happened today! I met with the pawsome team of and aka at the Second Chance Animal Rescue in Manning, SC. They were there to get some dogs and kittens to bring back to to be adopted. They had a special delivery for me! Three kittens that were rescued by from a local neighborhood. They tested positive for FeLV by SNAP test and inconclusive by the more comprehensive test. So they will be my guests for a month or two. Meet Pebblez (tortie), Gary (tabby and white) and Fred (black—and very spicy—he spit at me 😹). Getting the back scratcher and toothbrush ready! Praying their tests come back negative. 🙏🏻💙

And this happened today! I met with the pawsome team of and aka in Manning, SC to pick up kittens that rescued from a local neighborhood. Unfortunately, they tested positive for FeLV by snap and inconclusive on the more extensive test. So they will be my guests for the next month or two until they can be retested. Meet Pebblez2 (tortie), Fred (black) and Gary (tabby and white). Fred is a spicy thing and spit at me. Praying their tests come back negative so they can live a long happy life. 🙏🏻

So this happened last Sunday. Volunteers drove about nine hours to drop off three cats and two kittens. I met them off off I95 in NC to save them about four hours. It took a long time to get everyone situated and fed. Plus, this was my first full week of a new job. So I’m still figuring out a routine in the morning and evening to get everyone fed, medicated and loved. Pictures and updates will come eventually. Repost from

Mama Minxx ended up not undergoing surgery today. A sore developed on her elbow and her nose wound was deep. I’m unsure if this was an injury from another animal or running against the trap. The vet was concerned for bacteria and advised to get blood work for anaerobic and aerobic bacteria. If he amputated and the bacteria got into the surgical wound, it could get infected. Somewhere in the conversation he threw the word euthanasia in there. She was given a Convenia shot last week and started on a new antibiotic today along with pain medication. Otherwise, she seems in good spirits and ate a whole can of cat food. She was comfy in her hut for a bit, but then I found her in her litter box. Why? The sad part is that I need to keep her kitten out of her cage until test results come back. 😞

Finally, Thursday I came home from shopping and mama cat was under my carport! She was limping on her left hind foot. ...

Finally, Thursday I came home from shopping and mama cat was under my carport! She was limping on her left hind foot. I got the trap and literally caught her within five minutes. She was starving. I put her on my covered deck until I could get another cage and table. Poor thing scraped her nose on the trap. Friday I brought her to the vet and the news was not good. She was attacked by something and her foot was severely injured and necrosing. He said her leg needed to be amputated. 😞💔 She is scheduled for tomorrow morning for surgery. Please say prayers for Mama.
And now I feel super guilty for not trying harder to trap her. 😭

Remember Rose, the cat that brought to me in January for ? She was so skittish when I tried to pet her. Well, this is her “pet me NOW” face. She has transformed into a sweet, loving cat who begs for affection. I really thought I was going to have difficulty transitioning her into the family as she never let the kittens near her and would hiss and slap. She was the same when I started introducing the other cats. It didn’t take her long to adjust. She now head butts some of cats. But the best is her running up and down the hall chasing the kittens. Love, time and patience.
