As the new year begins, so does the reflection of the previous one. I'm so grateful for each of you who choose to ride with me, have me train your horses, or enjoy Reiki. I am also grateful for all of you who follow along and offer your support.

2024 brought in a lot of new faces. I had quite a bit of challenges with Flora not feeling well, but we seem to have gotten that under control. Raven is coming along so well! Especially when we look back to where she started.

This week, I will sit down and plan out my goals for 2025. Both for my the farm and my personal goals. This is going to be a year of big changes, and I know it is going to be a great one.

What are your goals? Where would you like to see yourself by the end of the year? What do you want to accomplish with your riding and your horse?

As the new year begins, remember to give yourself (and others) grace. This thing called life isn't always easy. But its amazing how a simple smile or stopping to take a breath could change yours or someone else's day.

I am so excited to see what 2025 will bring. I look forward to sharing it with you.

Happy New Year!! 🥳 🎉 🎊 🍾

Emmi was working on her stirrup stands in last week's lesson. Stirrup stands help build balance in the saddle. They are also good at telling if you're sqeezing with your knees or not.
You should be centered over your horse, and unlike two point, you fully stand in the saddle.
Emmi did amazing and held her balance very well.

Horsemanship

I have loved horses as long as I can remember; always jumping at any opportunity to be around them. Every birthday party was spent riding trails with friends. When I turned 12, I was able to volunteer at Diamond T Ranch taking out trails. I would bike 5 miles every other day to get there.

Eventually I bought Chardonnay, my first horse, from there when I was 15. He taught me so much! He was a flea bitten gray Arabian who was so sweet. He would run up to me in the pasture when I’d call his name. But he also had a stubborn side to him! We got into many arguments when I was younger because I wanted him to do something he didn’t want to do.

Looking back, there is so much I would have done differently. I couldn’t afford lessons, so everything was self taught and learned through reading.

I want to help you better communicate with your horse to create the best possible relationship with them. Chardonnay and I had a relationship like no other, but looking back I see there was a lot I missed.
