I have worked with animals for most of my life. I’ve trained, raised and shown German Shepherd Dogs, and American Quarter Horses.
I acquired a Yorkshire Terrier (Bobbie) 2001, he spark my old dreams of becoming a dog groomer. So off I when to pet grooming school to become a certified pet groomer. I fell in love for the happy & tough little Cairn Terrier breed I groomed in school. As fate would have it when looking for a job after graduation at Pet Smart. My eye caught sight of a cute little Cairn Terrier (Emma), that was just put out and ready for adoption. Well of course I wasn’t going to pass her up! I never got the job but I wasn’t suppose to.... I was suppose to be there for my little Emma! Bobbie and Emma became life long friends, partner in crime, also my baby’s, companions, and associates. They are no longer with me on this earth, I miss them so! A new chapter in my many years with animals is a German Shepherd Dog (Deja Vu). Deja Vu was named because of my long history with GSD’s she is the 14th I’ve owned. I’m training her and hope to show in obedience trails again.
I’ve worked at a grooming shop in Oconomowoc and at the Waterloo Vet Clinic as a groomer. In 2008 I set up my own shop at my country home. I’m happy with my shop being out of my home. I sent my own hours, days, and I can make exceptions to help accommodate my clients that may have special needs.
I love what I do. I consider my clients my friends. You need more that a love for dogs to be a good dog groomer. You need to think like dogs, never take any bad behavior personally, also you need the patience of a saint.
