Dun With Pleasure is expanding with new modalities once again!
I can’t even begin to wrap my head around the growth and positive impact I have seen since the launch of this business. My clients are absolutely amazing and I appreciate you entrusting yourself and your animals into my care.
Stay tuned for more announcements on what’s to come.
Benefits of using kinesiology tape for animals:
1. Pain relief: Helps reduce pain by improving circulation and reducing pressure on sore areas.
2. Support: Provides support to weak or injured muscles and joints without restricting motion.
3. Swelling and inflammation reduction: Improves lymphatic drainage and reduces swelling.
4. Improved performance: For working or athletic animals, it can improve muscle function and endurance.
5. Post-surgical recovery: Can aid in faster healing by reducing inflammation and providing support.
Kinesiology taping for SI support in horses can be a valuable tool in managing pain and enhancing performance, especially when combined with other therapeutic interventions such as massage or Magnawave.

When a horse receives massage or MagnaWave therapy, it can experience a “release” as a response to the treatment. This release is often a sign that tension is being alleviated, and the horse is experiencing relief. Here are some factors that can cause this release:
• Muscle Relaxation: Massage and MagnaWave therapy help to relax tight muscles, improve circulation, and reduce inflammation. As muscles relax, horses may exhibit signs of release, such as yawning, stretching, or lowering their head.
• Improved Blood Flow: Enhanced blood circulation from the treatments can remove metabolic waste products and bring in oxygen and nutrients, further relaxing the horse and reducing muscle stiffness.
• Natural Painkillers: Both massage and PEMF therapy can stimulate the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers. Endorphins contribute to the horse’s sense of well-being, leading to visible signs of relaxation and release, such as softening of the eyes, licking, chewing, or deep sighs.
• Parasympathetic Activation: These therapies often activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for “rest and digest” functions. This shift away from the sympathetic “fight or flight” state can cause the horse to relax deeply, showing signs like drooping ears, blinking slowly, or even falling asleep.
• Stress Relief: Horses, like humans, can hold onto emotional or psychological stress, which may manifest as physical tension. Therapeutic touch or electromagnetic pulses can help release these stressors, leading to visible signs of relaxation and release.
• Fascial Release: Massage and PEMF can target the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles. When this tissue is released, it can lead to a noticeable release of tension in the horse, with signs such as twitching of the skin or a sudden shift in posture.
These responses are generally positive, indicating that the horse is benefiting from the treatment. However, it is
Using kinesiology tape after a massage can be beneficial for horses in several ways:
1. **Support for Muscles and Joints**: Kinesiology tape can help support the muscles and joints of a horse after a massage. The tape provides gentle reinforcement without restricting movement, which can be particularly useful if the horse has specific areas of weakness or tension that were addressed during the massage.
2. **Enhanced Circulation**: The tape can help improve blood and lymphatic circulation by lifting the skin slightly, which encourages better flow of fluids. This can help reduce swelling, remove toxins, and promote faster recovery after a massage.
3. **Pain Relief**: Kinesiology tape can reduce pain by alleviating pressure on sensitive or sore areas. This is particularly useful for horses recovering from injury or dealing with chronic pain, as the tape can extend the pain-relieving effects of the massage.
4. **Prolonging the Effects of the Massage**: By applying kinesiology tape, the benefits of the massage can be extended. The tape helps maintain the improved posture, muscle alignment, and relaxation achieved during the massage, providing a longer-lasting therapeutic effect.
5. **Preventing Re-Injury**: After a massage, muscles are more relaxed and pliable, which can sometimes make them more susceptible to strain. Kinesiology tape can provide stability and prevent overextension or re-injury during movement.
Overall, kinesiology tape acts as a supportive tool to complement the benefits of massage therapy, aiding in the horse’s recovery and overall well-being.

Show season is in full swing. I love seeing all my clients post pictures from the show ring. But I love all the behind the scene work that I get to do to keep all of them at their best.

I try and alway tape my clients after a massage or MagnaWave Session.
Kinesiology taping allowing for a full range of motion while providing support and stability to muscles and joints.
Taping can be used to extend the benefits of massage/MagnaWave after the session has ended.

After working all week out of town; we came home and was playing some fetch and this old man took a bad step and was immediately three legged lame. Hopefully some good anti inflammatories, a Magnawave and laser session and a good night rest we have him back to normal tomorrow.
Chester was my first client when I first opened my business; he was rehabbing from a partial cruciate tear and now just needs maintenance sessions when he decides to act like a young pup.
I will forever be thankful that I have the ability to give back to my animals after they have been so good to us.
My favorite time of year is coming; Show/Racing season. We have prepared all winter long in the off season to help your animal recover and rebuild. You have put in long hours in the cold and rain and some snow day in and day out. Added some modalities to help keep them feeling great. Now it’s time to double down and see how far you all have come. It has been my pleasure working by you and your animals side through the long dark months to now be by your side through the sun and fun that this season will bring.
