I am so excited to find out that today I was awarded the Clyde Heron Award (the most accurately rendered artwork of an historical subject) by the American Plains Artists. My thanks to the Awards Juror Dr. Darrell Beauchamp; Executive Director of the Museum of Western Art in Kerrville, TX, for judging the show for all awards. Congratulations to the participants and awardees.

The charcoal drawing shows U.S. Marshal, Bass Reeves, arrested his son for murder. Reeves decided to take on the job of capturing his son Bennie himself to keep him from being harmed. Many times, fathers must do unthinkable things to protect their family. Reeves was committed to upholding the law of the land in spite of the cost to his son.

That is why I decided to name this drawing, Bass Reeves: A Father's Love.

This 30" x 30" original artwork hangs in the 2023 American Plains Juried Exhibit and sells for $4500. The show is hosted by: PEARCE MUSEUM AT NAVARRO COLLEGE. My official Yellowstone Season 1 cap from the Montana Film Office with the Cinematographer on the opposite side. I’m deciding whether I should alter it with each Season I worked or just put the Seasons on my Yellowstone Jacket.
