Carroll Students for Animal Welfare (CSAW)

Carroll Students for Animal Welfare (CSAW) Our goal as an organization is to spread knowledge about animal welfare to our fellow students as well as our surrounding community.

We will be creating connections for students in the animal behavior career track as well as creating opportunities for volunteering with animals for non-animal behavior students. If you have ANY ideas on what you would like to see us do this year, let us know! We're a new org so we need you guys to help us grow!

First up on our is Heihei (brown chicken) and Jane (black chicken)!

“Hi! My name is Ash and these two chickens are Heihei and Jane. Heihei would like to believe she’s head hen but can’t figure out how to get off of chairs. Jane just wonders where all the brain cells went.”

Ash joined CSAW to learn more about animal welfare and to become a better advocate for it.

Feel free to send us pictures of your pet and some facts about them to be featured!

Our members had a wonderful time volunteering at Doodles Ranch & Sanctuary today!! 🐱🤎

Doodle’s Ranch is a non-profit that aims to educate about feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), cerebellar hypoplasia, paralysis, and other health issues in cats. Their goal is to show others that special needs cats can still live normal lives! As a club that advocates for animal welfare, this volunteer event was quite fitting with our mission.

For more information about Doodle’s Ranch and their backstory, visit their website, doodlesranch.org!

We had a great a great time with you! And all these lovely kitties!

What an eventful Caturday we had! I have mentioned that Doodles has been trying to find unique ways to help others. Most recently we have been swamped with students needing volunteer hours. We have had quite a few individual kids come but today we had a group.

" We are Carroll Students for Animal Welfare, a club at Carroll University. As a part of our group, we are required to volunteer at an institution for two hours. We though the best way to spend that time was to come to Doodles Ranch and Sanctuary and give a whole lot of love to the cats!"

Most of them are majoring in animal behavior and want to work at zoos. It’s nice to see kids that have such passion for what they want to do. Of course the cats were happy getting so much attention
