Finally, temps that allow outdoor play and potty! Ripley is always happy to play with the babies.
The pups are having a hard time settling with their new digs. Doesn't help the nightlight is way too bright! I'm hoping they've partied hard and will sleep good til 6.
I've been sneaking the little sheepies in with the bigger pups for play time while the mothers aren't watching. We've also started bringing potential families over for visits. I will start announcing which ones have been chosen later in the week. Bernie's babies are way ahead of the curve and ready to love on people while Laika's started the weekend a little apprehensive. Tonight they made it a point to come play with me more, waging their tails and talking at me. They also allowed other people to hold them. Sheepies turned three weeks old so they will be getting their first bath and bernedoodles will be getting their third as they turn five weeks old tomorrow!
Decided it was time to introduce the pups to the outdoors. Ripley came along to help her little friends get comfortable. They absolutely loved it but were ready to go back inside after five minutes.
A little after dinner play time! Their ears are slowly opening so each day Their walking will improve. I love the toddle stage ❤️
Waiting for the kids to final potty before I give them a wipe down bath and give them their beds back. During this week it's important that I ensure they don't step in pee/poop and then carry the smell to their bedding. This way they understand the boundaries of where they potty vs where they sleep.
The pups are distracted by their momma outside the door. They are slowly learning that crying at the door gets them nowhere, so they just lay there waiting!
After dinner zoomies! Playtime lasts a whole 5 minutes before everyone settles back to sleep.
When I wake the pups for pre- dinner potty, I'm met with a little attitude! Berserker had something to say about me sliding the pen over for full pee pad coverage. While they naturally head to the pads to pee, sometimes they bump into one another and head in the wrong direction. Moving the pen takes the guess work out for this beginning stage.
Excuse the pee.... I wake the ups to potty before Bernie comes in to feed them. Such sweet little pups love to come looking for attention.
The Norse bunch picked up walking seemingly over night. Since they are toddling, their potty training begins a little early. I've since set up their pen to be more than half potty area. Ultimately the goal is for them to keep their bedding side clean and learn that paper and pads is where they "want" to potty. If this is pulled of well for the next two weeks, it makes further potty training so much easier.
Berserker has wild dreams!
Nyx digs the herding ball!
We’ve coupled kennel training with outdoor potty training and things are going well! They can handle 1-1.5 hours in the kennel during the day without accidents and nighttime up to 6 hours. By week six they should be sleeping the full eight hours and I have to train myself to not wake up multiple times during the night checking their nanny cam. Our daytime training/play is wild; one hour of sleep then one hour of awake. Once they are six weeks old they have a good grasp of not wanting to soil their kennel so we start extending the time between potty breaks. Weeks 4-6 can be challenging but also rewarding to see how they progress.
Side note Vader is fine after taking that tumble off the step, I didn’t see it happen until I rewatched.
When the littles are supposed to be asleep but Vader and Chewbacca are locked in an epic battle of good vs evil! Meanwhile it looks like Han Solo fell asleep on the slide and slid down without waking!
Vader uses the slide as much as possible! She is going to have very long legs and a slim build! Such a loving girl, she often falls asleep next to my leg hoping to get another cuddle session before playtime is over.
More fun with the littles!
