This Saturday, I will be explaining titles on a dog’s pedigree and what they mean. If you are thinking about getting a puppy, or just like to understand a little more about what it takes to get a nice working dog, you need to attend.

I will also be telling about my savior Jesus Christ in this presentation. If you love to see good dogs and Jesus Christ work together, please plan to attend this Saturday, 06-18-2022 11:00 am Gilbertown SDA Church. 27 Adams St
Gilbertown, 36908
Potluck meal will follow, and I will be glad to answer any questions.

I have said before, and I will say it continually, this doesn’t happen by accident, hunt test and field trials is where you find proven dogs. ribbons are not just for pretty sake, they leave a record of capabilities that a dog has, and apples rarely fall far from the tree. This is all natural ability for this pup, no training, she just does it instinctively.

What a busy fun weekend at NMDHRC hunt test. we had good judges, good grounds, and challenging test. Going 7/7 with a new HR title.
Rocky 2/2 in finished
Maudi 2/2 titling in seasoned Saturday and moving finished Sunday.
Willie 1/1 in finished on Saturday. And I decided to not run him Sunday.
Hagen and Lucy 1/1 finished Sunday
Bell 1/1 in started. Sunday.
Thanks to everyone that made this possible. NMDHRC, judges, test workers, and family that helps take care of these pups. And most definitely congratulations to my clients and pups this weekend.

What a week, the Grand was an experience like none other. 5 days of grueling test that just gets more challenging everyday. You make friends and then they are gone, Our flight started with almost 80 dogs, and we finished with 12.

I was fortunate enough to have a really nice dog that pulled me through until the end, Rocky put on a show of true grit, persevering all the way through. He took cast, run straight, kept his hunts small, and set on a live flush, what an honor to sit beside such an incredible animal. To God be the glory.

As a Father of Home schooled kids and business owner, one of my proudest moments of both come together at CAHRC this weekend. It’s tough raising your kids at work in the field, correcting dogs, kids and putting together a setup that works for both are definitely taxing to say the least, and sometimes you come home and wonder just how bad you failed at both and if you really accomplished anything. (If you have trained dogs, you know what I’m talking about). But this weekend, Hagen titled his puppy as an HRCH that was given to him by a dear friend, Teddy Duvall. All the long talks about executing each concept and why we have to train each one individually and putting them together to make a nice dog paid off. Watching them come together as a team over the years has not always been easy, but it sure was rewarding watching him line her up on the last bird with such a soft methodical touch, then sends her on her way, and without a single sit whistle, Lucy takes line straight as an arrow to pick up her final bird for her title was something money can’t buy. To God be the Glory.

Who’s turn is it to go first this time? You ever wonder how you get them ears perked up for the camera? This is the backside of what you see in a good photo. For every good pic, there is someone in the back ground doing woop tee doos😂😂😂. I if look way back there, you can see see Hagens boom cannon reflecting in the sun.

Did little white coat drill that proved to be quite the challenge. Long swim through the channel past a point with a white coat marker, then short swim to an angle back over the hill. We ran doubles and singles depending on the pups level.

We had a great time this weekend at Old Hatchie HRC running 4/4 in finished and brought a new HRCH home . Hagen really put on a show with his dog lucy, making it look like child’s play,( thank goodness it was a test and not a trial, or dear old dad would’ve gotten shown up). No one wanted to follow Hagen and lucy to the line. It was all in good taste and we had a blast. Thanks to takk farm for allowing us to use their grounds.

Ever go in a kennel that doesn’t stink? Here is another look behind the scenes of what your money is paying, (besides retrieving birds). 2 to 3 times a day, kennels get full and partial rinses with one full sanitizing each day. Invest in your dog, for a good return.

A professional trainer is expensive. Have you ever wondered why? Here is a look behind the scenes of what you don’t see. Time and money being invested back in the dogs so they can be the best they can possibly be. Make the right choice and invest in your dog instead of looking for the cheapest trainer out there.

A lot of training options from the line on this one. Hills and different height cover strips made for good training. Had to crank up the ac on the trailer with this heat to get all the dogs through 2 setups today.

Me and Hagen definitely had a lot of fun this weekend at Old Hatchie HRC, held at the grounds of TAKK farm, TAKK farm really out did themselves with the hospitality towards us. We went 2/2 in seasoned, passed 5 out of 8 in started, with every dog on the truck getting at least one pass.

This is a picture of one of the marks we run today. Looks fairly simple, at around 90 yards we placed a winger around 30 yards behind the yellow cow feeder throwing right to left, look at the pictures and notice the difference. 1st one is the handlers view, 2nd is is the dogs view from the line and the 3rd is the dogs view as soon as they leave the line. It creates an illusion that the mark lands on top of the hill beside the feeder, but they have to push past it another 30 yards. Really tough mark if it’s the 1st time your pup has ever seen this.

We are getting our obedience in and looking for dryer weather to get started on our field in March.

This is Maudi, we have high hopes for her, she is a young dog in our gundog program that we hand picked. She likes to train.

11/22/2020

Maudi working on basic chase, retrieve and return while her sister is throwing a fit because she ant out there doing the same thing. The value of building these 3 concepts before their puppy adult start to come in, will save your pup and the trainer a lot work and time. =$$$ educate yourself and get a plan before you purchase that that puppy. This all started years ago with a breeding plan that has been passed down for generations.

Bell, at 10 weeks. The importance of doing the research to find a puppy to fit the job they are asked to do. The video speaks for it self. I’ve heard so many times, “I just want a hunting dog, nothing fancy”. Well, it’s hard to make gundog out of one that doesn’t want to retrieve. Do yourself a favor, buy from proven bloodlines. This is not a trained reaction from Bell, she is just doing what comes natural. Follow the progress of Bell and Maudie as they progress.
