The pups are becoming more social and aware of their surroundings. Socialization typically refers to the process of desensitization, or gradually exposing a puppy to new experiences, animals, and objects that it is likely to encounter over the course of its life, while ensuring that the puppy finds this exposure pleasant.
My pups are handled numerous times throughout the day and even have had their first nail cutting. (Those nails were getting sharp and poor Jazz was feeling it.)
I try to touch all their paws a lot, as most dogs don't like their paws handled (I have one like that) This is an important practice to continue as they go their permanent homes. It will make it easy to clip their nails.
It is important to desensitized them to noises they may hear as they grow, so they are not easily scared. I have one that hates fireworks and thunder. If I had researched more when she was young I would have tried to give her something positive to associate with those noise. Perhaps stroking and frequent treats during the storms would help.
I just share this information in case there are others out there who don't know. I wish I had all this knowledge thirty years ago. Enjoy the video.

You can see Tequila and Dizzy rolling around trying to get that perfect spot. And Louie of course laying on his back. And towards the end little Brandy crawling up on top of the pile to get a little warmer.
They are growing, two have hit the 1 pound mark, and the rest are in the 15 ounce range. 1 week old today, love the puppy noises. I weigh them every day to make sure momma can handle feeding them all. Momma is getting extra calcium via supplements and cottage cheese. Also beef liver, eggs and other toppers on her puppy chow. She is starting to stay outside a bit and took a little walk around the field today with me. She is just awesome.
