Boot camper #2... Savanna!
(Different households but came in on the same day)
PS- this footage is in real speed and has not been fast forwarded!
Our newest boot camper... Doodles! :-)
Incorporating obedience into play pulls in some major manners so your dog isn't all over you when you have what he wants! ;-)
Practicing calling your dog off of distractions will build up that reliability we all want and I promise you there WILL come a day where you're thankful you put in the time! ;-)
Meet Agador! He's one of our newest clients who is being introduced to the crate for the very first time in his 10 years of life! Its never too late! Its important that we move at his pace and that he becomes comfortable and not forced into this new space. :-) Go Aggie, go! You can do it Aggie! (Y)
Two paws up to Big T who worked some obedience at Home Depot last night and did awesome! Great distractions and a nice indoor alternative to the nasty raw weather. ;-)
Have fun with your puppy indoors! Come, sit, get close, with me, down, spin... The list goes on and on! ;-)
Chocolate puppy Lola and her parents Brian & Kristen are preparing themselves by practicing thier door greeting manners for when family comes over for Christmas this weekend! This routine of Lola staying on her bed when people are at the door needs to become the new routine habit that replaces the previous jumping madness. ;-) Practicing with each other will strengthen this more and more so by the time company shows, everyone understands what's expected and have this all completly down pat!
Today's Sunday Fun Day involved teaching leash manners to wild child Janie! Bringing her chaos down to calm in just seconds with the help of our favorite Laguard weighted vest! :-)
Sibs had another AWESOME session today and got to play with both Cain & Abel! We are so so proud of her!! :-)
Proof that hard work does pay off!
Nice clip of Jess and Flint demonstrating how to use a toy instead of food as praise at a recent Helping Hounds Workshop.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the really special animals out there and their 2 legged family members! <3
Sunday Fun Day with Teddy in Barn Hunt! He has 3 minutes to show me where 4 rats are hiding and he did it! :-) yayyyy Teddy!

!!!HUGE BREAKTHROUGH FOR SIBLEY TODAY!!!
This was her very first time interacting with another dog and she chose to PLAY! Normally having to cross the street to avoid making a scene or causing a fight - Sibley and her mom have been working extra hard to create social skills and a healthy mindset all around. These are the moments that truly warm our hearts and make it all worth while! <3 THIS is why we do what we do! <3
Bello made some excellent decisions at the workshop by not reacting to the Newfies on the fence barking at him... Nice job pal! :-)
A quick clip from last week's workshop... Lots of pressure on dogs and everyone did great! Hard to believe that any of these guys ever even have had issues. :-)
Happy Friday!!
From Cain, Abel & Dinah <3
Gretta had her very first lesson in leash pressure today! We introduced her to a dominant dog collar (instead of a regular flat collar) and just a light tug and release technique to teach her to walk either next to us or behind us and not pull. These videos were taken less than 5 minutes apart from each other.
We simply just can not give enough praise to Cindy & Sibley for their leaps and bounds of progress over the past week! These are real results that come to real people putting in real effort. We are so incredibly proud and truly honored to be apart of their success! CHECK THEM OUT!!!
Emma finished up her training package the other day with a dinner date with Cain & Abel just outside Home Depot. Their kibble has been thrown through out the grass and they now have to use their nose to hunt it out. This type of feeding ritual helps strengthen bonds and naturally draw dogs out of their shells.
Emma went to HOME DEPOT! This is an enormous step for her as she use to be very nervous and skittish in public. We have built up her trust in us and are now able to enjoy her company in more places! :-)
Baby steps in a new place:
1st- let them potty, sniff and explore a designated area
2nd- get their attention on you
3rd- warm up with loose leash walking in the parking lot BEFORE you head inside
4th- maintain a loose leash inside in a short and successful loop through the store
5th- relax and recover in a quiet area back outside
Welcome home test #2 for Cody was the big, loud & scary ride along lawn mower. They use to have to put Cody in the house in order to safely mow the lawn. Now, he rocks that place command on a rock no problem!
Cody went home and was immediately put to the test with the dreaded vacuum cleaner! Before he came to us, they had to literally put Cody outside in order to vacuum in peace but now he simply holds his place command and doesn't make a fus! :-)
Savanna is learning to sit on her place mat while mom answers the door. Then she politely relocates to her bed in the living room while people are able to come in and sit down. This is UNBELIEVABLY HUGE for her as tackling guests is their number one struggle!
Gunner is learning rear end awareness! This helps limber the body and make the dog think more about where exactly his body is and his spacial awareness.
Clients show their appreciation in many different ways... cash tips, gas cards, food and of course special treats/products for our very own really special animals. Big shout out to Stacey & Chewy with an enormous thank you for a brand new cozy cave bed! Cain is absolutely IN LOVE with it and refuses to come out. He is now known as "Burrito Boy"! LOL Thank you again for such generosity, we love you! :-)
Cody's just watching the draft horse show at The Big E... calm as can be!!! :-)
Step 1 & 2 of teaching your pup to love his crate! Use their breakfast and dinner kibble as cookies to work this exercise so the only way they eat their meals is by getting in and settling in their crate. ;-)
Nevermind the dogs Sibley... come play with your mother! :-)
Make it FUN!
Baxter is learning to walk nice and quiet on the leash, without pulling or reacting to distractions!
Answering the door when guests come over is one of the most common issues owners struggle with but through our structured training program, we are able to find peace and harmony in what seems like a hopelessly chaotic situation.
Big T got to watch the soccer game too! He was quiet and calm as can be... a perfect gentleman!
Cody got to go watch his kid play soccer today!! Something he was never able to do before is now possible and enjoyable!! :-)
Our little girl Scout is learning to focus on her mom and understanding that nothing else really matters. (Y) (Y)
Here is a clip from our last Helping Hounds Workshop! You would never even know that all these dogs use to have serious dog on dog reactivity issues.
Looks like our little Teddy Monster may have a groin injury so he is now in both water and laser therapy twice a week with Dr. Corey down at Healing Paws in Providence, RI.
This is Emma's first time learning how to apply the place command when answering the door. It is a great way for her mom to regain control over the situation and not have any chaos when company arrives.
A quick and easy trick to teach your dog is to have him simply switch sides when walking. This allows you to create more space when passing by other people and dogs which helps avoid potential conflicts. ;-)
We are continuing to build Cody's confidence by teaching him some agility! Here he is playing around with a few jumps while the cleaning people are vacuuming the other ring. This is a HUGE distraction for Cody as he use to down right panic around people and especially the vacuum cleaner! But today, he's not even bothered! Yayyyy Cody-kins! :-)
