CAP Ranch Petting Zoo & Pony Rides

Our goal is to bring joy to all who encounter our animals & to create an environment of celebration! CAP became our family logo early in our relationship.

Not only does it include our initials, it represents the "icing on the cake" or an analogy for how we finish getting ready for each day. A hat or cap is the last thing you put on before leaving home. It keeps us warm, safe, and feels complete. CAP Ranch began its journey in the petting zoo business in 2014. What started as a homeschool project evolved into a love of teaching about and sharing an

imals with others. We bought three Nigerian Dwarf goats and learned everything we could about them. Science class was fun that year! Our daughter started working on a ranch that same year and quickly became involved with their petting zoo and pony rides part of the business. After many years, kids growing up, life moving us to Central Texas and back, we are enjoying having our own petting zoo and pony rides company. In case you are wondering; yes, the child who had so much excitement about it 8 years ago does still work with us today!

We absolutely LOVE serving our community! Thank you to our friends at Noah's Ark Petting Farm and the amazing Schmid family for allowing us to let Whiskey B tag along while mama gave pony rides (I wish we took videos - the baby had so much fun and provided great entertainment running like a race horse and bucking like he was competing in PRCA!) Our crew is blessed!

This little donkey…love him to pieces! Our goats have gotten stuck in the back fencing multiple times this week. Wally, trying to help, bites their back and pulls with all his might! He has no idea he’s probably hurting them - his focus is on saving them! This afternoon the dogs started signing that something was wrong. I went out to see Wally trying to pull Emmy out of the fence. Y’all, as soon as he saw me, he stopped trying and laid his head over her back. He was protecting her until I could get to her. People joke about donkeys being stupid, but our guy is so stinking smart!

And, he knows when new animals are introduced to the farm. One of our roosters decided to fluff himself up (only time that’s ever happened-he’s usually super sweet) and charge me this week…Wally ran over to get between the rooster and myself! Rooster backed off. 🥰

Is a donkey good for livestock protection? YES! Hands down yes!!! PS - he also opens and close gates.
