Maddie has been with us for a bit of time now, since May, and she has been overlooked very often. We’re not sure why, as she is so sweet and beautiful!

She came in as an owner surrender with another cat who has since been adopted, and she’s still waiting for her chance at a forever home. She is very loving and enjoys being pet and quiet attention, and as she is and older lady of 12.5 years old, she isn’t usually very playful. We think she would like a quiet home with a calm family, perhaps without young children or too much activity. She doesn’t seem to mind other cats but we are not sure how she would be with dogs.

She has deformed front legs but gets around fine in her own way, but may have some mobility challenges with high places or jumping up on furniture. She is otherwise perfectly healthy!

Please contact us if you have questions about Maddie and please reach out if you think you may be the right home for her! Come meet beautiful Maddie during open hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 4-7 and Saturday 10-1.

Happy Forever Friday! We have another very special story for you today, our beloved Theodore in his new home!

Theodore came to us as a single stray kitten walking down Main Street and was brought in the same weekend as our kitten shower this year! 😱 He came home with me for a foster and only spent a week annoying my other fosters at the time (the five spicy girlies that have all found homes since they came back to the shelter!) before he was neutered and headed back to the shelter to find his new family. He was waiting a SHOCKING amount of time for his forever home, but as you can see, he found it! Read below for the great update on our beloved Theodore:

“We adopted our two girls, Lucy and Rosie, from the CCC in 2024 and they have added so much love to our home!
After their adoption, I started volunteering at CCC and quickly fell in love with Theodore (Teddy). He was full of love and had endless energy. He has completed our family and is SO loved! It turns out, a loud house with 4 kids and 2 other cats was the perfect fit for Teddy, he loves that there is always someone to play or cuddle with. We are so grateful for our friends at CCC who helped us find our perfect match!”

I also added a few pictures of him in his time at the CCC. Thank you for the great update and for adopting this special little guy!! 😻

Happy Monday! This week we didn’t have too many adoptions and don’t have anyone on deposit. Chipper, Almond, and Simon & Dizmo went home last week!

New kitties are Waffles, McGonagall, London, and Silver (not pictured). McGonagall is the mama kitty we found with her baby, Ollivander, who is in foster and doing awesome! McGonagall is a sweet petite lady who is very friendly and likes to play and be pet.

Waffles is the cutest little guy! He loves to play and be pet, and would do well in a variety of homes. He is confident and can get a little slappy so small children may not be the best fit for him.

London is also a mama kitty who came in with a few kittens that are also in foster and doing well. She is shy, but also a typical tortie (if you know you know), and will take a bit of time to warm up to people and living indoors. Who knows what she went through in her life before??

Silver is shy but not aggressive, has five babies in foster, and will also take some time to settle in. She was fixed this week and is ready to find her forever home! We do not know in particular how he would be with dogs or children, but he came in with other cats and would likely do well with a cat friend or two in his new home.

Open hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4-7 and Saturday 10-1. Come on in and (hopefully) meet your new best friend!

We are requesting donations of items needed for a deep cleaning event coming up in two weeks. We have a group of people coming in from a local company who are using their volunteer hours to come and deep clean the shelter! In order to get them all they need to complete this super helpful task, we are asking for donations of the following:

- Unscented windex
- Lysol or similar wipes
- Cleaning rags or paper towels
- Dusters
- Mops and buckets
- Zep brand antibacterial disinfectant

Please know that while we appreciate the concern of using certain products, the cleaning is of the building itself, not where the cats are housed at the time of the cleaning. The cats will be safe in each room while it is cleaned and will not have any contact with such cleaning products.

A quick Forever Friday story coming at you late on this Friday afternoon! Read below for an update on a sweet little kitten that was adopted in August:

“Sending an update on Gus formally known as Stuart. We adopted Gus back in August and he has brought us so much joy! He is a menace to society, always getting into something, but also the most loveable cuddly kitten! His motor is always going and his favorite thing right now is taking all the ornaments off the Christmas Tree! He has been the best addition to our family! But what they say about orange cats is absolutely true!! 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫”

Thank you for the update, and for adopting this adorable little guy!

Happy first Monday montage of 2026! Unfortunately, Marshmallow came back to us and looking for her forever home! Olive & Martini, Oatmeal & Pudding, Anchovy & Jordi, and Mimi went home this past week! Chipper and Almond are on deposit separately.

We have one new kitty named Cheeto, but he didn’t have a great intake photo, so he’s un-pictured for now. He is a handsome long haired orange and white kitty who’s about 12 years old and was owner-surrendered due to allergies.

Marshmallow is back with us and ready to find the right fit for her, where she can have plenty of time and patience to decompress and get to know her new surroundings. We know she is very pretty, but please do not apply to adopt her solely for her looks. She would do well with a super slow introduction to other cats and a quiet home with owners who are familiar with under socialized cats that need time and space to settle in. Please reach out to us if you think this could be your home!

We are back to our usual open hours schedule- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 4-7 and Saturday 10-1! Come down to meet all of our wonderful adoptable kitties, and hopefully find your new best friend!

Happy New Year! We have our year-end statistics for you!

In only December, we did the following:
Intake: 17 cats
Adoptions: 38 cats

In 2025:
332 intakes
286 adoptions
At least 167 cats for TNR (Trap Neuter Return)

In 2024:
191 intakes
187 adoptions
No data on TNR

This means that in 2025, we rescued 141 more cats and adopted/transferred/returned to owner 119 more cats than in 2024!

Thank you for all your support this past year, where we were able to help so many cats. This year had significant challenges that countless rescues faced alongside the CCC, including abandonment, cruelty, lack of resources, changes in costs of living, compassion fatigue, and general stress, as well as a kitten season that never ended.

We are hoping to help even more cats this year! Please consider joining us if you have ever thought of volunteering, fostering, or donating to a shelter, we will need your help this year! Reach out for more info, or take a look at our website here: https://thecommunitycatconnection.org

Happy first Forever Friday of 2026! Like I mentioned in our last Monday montage, Dragonfly was officially adopted (by me) last week, so here’s an update on how he’s been doing here at home.

He was born here at my house on July 27th, 2024 and once his mom Carmella, left to get spayed and find her forever home, he and his siblings, Ladybug, Katydid, Bumblebee, and Butterfly, spent a decent amount of time getting used to my cats. My girl cat, Montana Banana, took a liking to them all but would “mother” him in particular. When they all went to get spayed/neutered, it was discovered that he had a heart murmur and needed to wait to get neutered until he went to see a specialist. His siblings were all spayed and neutered and found their forever homes very soon after! One of his sisters found a home with a friend of a friend so I get to see updates every so often!

He went to the Tufts cardiology department for an echo and it was determined that he had pulmonary stenosis, which is a very rare congenital defect in cats. It is the narrowing of the heart valve, which causes the heart to work harder than it should, and creates changes in the structure of the heart muscle. The echo test before the surgery showed how the stenosis progressed in his short lifetime, and it had already caused significant changes to the heart. He had the surgery which was a very stressful time but he made it through like a champ and didn’t seem to affect him at all! The only issue he had was leaving his neck alone while it healed, so he had to have it wrapped and glued more than once and for a longer than normal time.

Since he stayed with us longer than expected, we really came to love him and were very happy to find out recently that his heart surgery was very successful and his heart remained stable after it. We feel like he was always supposed to be with us, so we feel pretty good about having him around a long time!

Thank you to those who donated and shared his fundraiser and for those who have enjoyed following his story. He’s a special guy and deserves the best!

Happy last Monday of 2025! How fast this year went by, right?? We had several very exciting adoptions last week, including Muggles & Dobby, Thumbs, Marshmallow, Maverick, Barracuda, Stormy, and our long-time favorite, Dragonfly! Mimi is on deposit and headed home soon, and Jordi is also on deposit. For new kitties, we have Chipper, Molly, and Mochi.

Surprising to absolutely no one, Dragonfly has been adopted by his foster (yours truly) after receiving excellent news at his most recent visit to the cardiologist, that his heart surgery results were very stable and he only needs to be seen once a year or even less! He has bonded with my girl cat, Montana Banana, and she has mothered him since he’s been with us, and he gets along (mostly) well with our other cats. He is a silly firecracker and a mama’s boy, so we couldn’t bear to part with him. Thank you to all who helped him get the care he needed to live a long and happy, healthy life! 😻

Chipper is a new kitty this week, and she is a looker! She is an owner surrender as her owner went into assisted living. She is friendly, sweet and about 8 years old. Molly was a stray kitten collected from the same place as Coconut and Chloe. She is very pretty and seems sweet but a little shy, but she was found outside with other cats so she would do well with others. Mochi is an adult kitty of about 4 and a half years old who looks like a kitten, she’s so petite! We do not know for sure how these three would be with dogs.

We are CLOSED again this Thursday for New Year’s Day, but have open hours the regular times on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Thank you for all your support this year, and again please stay tuned for our year end wrap-up post!

Also at the end of the photos is a recent picture of all five of my babies on my bed, including Sir Dragonfly ❤️
