Happy Friday! This week’s Forever Friday is from a lovely pair of brothers that were adopted by best friends! They came to us as tiny baby rescues with their mom and siblings. They are actually our special girl Lucy’s brothers Felix and Bowie, now named Kylo and Milo, although the matching names were unplanned.

Milo now has an orange sibling (pictured) and is attached to his mom’s hip. Kylo is a cuddle bug who loves to snuggle with his big brother, a rottie! They have playdates and love to see each other and play.

Thank you for adopting these wonderful boys and for sharing the great update!

Happy Monday! We don’t have any new kitties this week, but we wanted to focus on some of our longer stays. Since Cinnamon has gone home, Vinny is our longest stay.

Vinny has been with us for 300 days. He spent a long time getting friendly and is now a ham, and is looking for his forever home. He loves attention and enjoying the sunshine and looking out the window.

Lucky & Oreo, and Tiny & Taylor have also been with us for a long time, since the beginning of June. They were living in a home after their owner went into hospice and they had family coming in to feed them. They were brought to us and took some time to decompress, but now are very loving and friendly. They would love to stay together in pairs but Oreo and Lucky could be adopted individually.

Flash has gotten a lot more friendly and sweet since she joined us in the beginning of August. Her owner passed away and she spent time alone in the home before she came to us. As a result, she took a while to get comfortable but now she rolls around on the floor and enjoys pets!

Please reach out to us if any of these kitties sound like someone you’re looking for to join your family! We have open hours each week on Thursday and Friday 12-3:30 and Saturday 10-1.

“‘Scuse me, don’t mean to bother you. I was just wondering, can I crash at your place for a while?”

*FOSTERS NEEDED*

Would you like to open your home to a silly kitten or a scared kitty to get them friendly, healthy, and then able to find their forever home? We need people to help foster semi-feral or nervous cats and kittens! All food, litter, supplies, and veterinary care is covered by the CCC. You would just fatten them up, get them friendly or help them decompress from their previous living situation, then they’re ready to be adopted! Please reach out via messenger or by emailing [email protected] for more information. Thank you!!

(Pictured) Dragonfly is a foster in my home, and he has some rather serious health issues. More info is coming soon on him!

Happy first Forever Friday of the new year! This one is very special to us, as it is from one of our best people ever! You’ve heard from her before as she has adopted a few kitties from us, but she has recently added to her family and we wanted to share that update! Read below for the wonderful story from Molly’s forever home:

“Molly Ringwald came to us as a 6-7 week old foster baby, weighing in at only 1.3 lbs. She was found on her own outside, without any sign of a Mom or siblings. After the first day with her, we could tell something was off. Molly was way too subdued for a kitten and was slowly becoming weaker and less responsive. After spending the night in the ER on IV fluids and antibiotics, she started to slowly turn a corner. We were able to bring her back home the next morning and slowly nurse her back to health. It took a few weeks before Molly fully bounced back but when she did, she decided to make up for lost time with her crazy kitten energy! It was the best feeling to see her in her element - enjoying life with our 3 other cats who gladly accepted her as their little sister from the very beginning! It didn’t take long for us to realize that she had become part of our family and was meant to stay forever. She has officially been ours for a month now and we couldn’t be happier!! Thanks for bringing Molly into our lives!"

Thank you for fostering and then adopting this wonderful little munchkin! She likely wouldn’t have made it without your loving care and sharp instincts!

Happy final Monday Montage of 2024! We had Bash and Sir Newton go home last week, and we also have Danny and Sandy on deposit! This week we have a few new kitties for you, and they are Lua, Elsie, Jesse, and Zelda! Stay tuned for a spotlight post on our longer stay kitties as well.

Elsie is a bit nervous as she was being bullied by the other cats in the house. Poor girl! She is a full bodied black and white shorthair kitty who would do well as the only kitty in her new home.

Lua is a beautiful medium buff girl who was left behind when a friend was moving, and they never came back to get her. So sad! She is extremely sweet and loving,, and would do well in a variety of homes, but we are unsure how she is with dogs or other cats.

Jesse was a stray brought in by a neighbor who had been feeding him for a while, and it is believed he was dumped. He is very friendly and sweet, and would also do well in a variety of homes. He is FIV+, but that does not mean he cannot live a full and normal life! Please see our informational post about FIV that we recently shared to understand more about FIV.

Zelda is a 12 year old kitty who is very sweet and friendly, but had to come to us as a surrender because her owner could no longer care for her. She is in very good health and is ready to spend her golden years in a comfortable, loving home.

Please come meet these kitties at our Webster shelter during open hours Thursday and Friday from 12-3:30 and Saturday 10-1!

An informational post about some of the myths and misconceptions of FIV:

Myth #1: FIV is a death sentence. — There is very little reason that a cat cannot live a full, healthy life with FIV.
Myth #2: FIV is ‘cat AIDS’. — Rarely do cats with FIV develop AIDS, which is what develops when a cat is ill with another sickness and it overwhelms their immune system.
Myth #3: FIV+ cats cannot live with other animals. — As long as it is a peaceful home without intense fighting, cats can coexist just fine with one another. FIV also cannot be passed along to other species.
Myth #4: FIV can be passed through saliva. — FIV can only be passed via a deep bite, similar to how unfixed male cats fight on the streets. It cannot be passed through saliva shared in bowls or the like. The virus dies quickly when outside the body, so passing through saliva is not a concern.
Myth #5: A cat with FIV should be euthanized. — Like myth #1, there is no reason a cat cannot live a healthy, full life with FIV, as long as it is not suffering from additional ailments affecting its quality of life. If a vet recommends euthanasia for a FIV+ cat, switch vets!

Happy Forever Friday! Hope everyone had a great holiday week. This week we have a nice story about not one but two unrelated kitties that were adopted together- Turtle and Carmella!

Carmella was abandoned and pregnant and came to us through concerned neighbors. She came to the shelter and went straight into foster - at my house! I had her for about two weeks before she gave birth to five beautiful healthy babies, my second litter born at my house. She raised them well for a while and then was tired of them (and kind of mean 🙀) so we separated them when they were old enough, and all of their personalities bloomed! She came back to the shelter and the babies stayed with me until they were old enough to be fixed and find their forever homes. Dragonfly, the foster kitten you may have heard about here and there, is her kitten! They have the same eyes. 😻

Turtle was found with her siblings as strays semi-feral kittens and they spent some time in a foster home getting friendlier. She was still more nervous and skittish than her siblings when they returned to the shelter. Her siblings were adopted together but Turtle was still with us for quite some time.

A follower of the shelter was interested in Carmella, so they came down to meet her and put a deposit on her and fell in love with Turtle too! They went home together, and please read below for their short update:

“Lydia (Turtle) comes out of her shell a little more everyday. She has been more social with us humans, though her favorite creature is my other cat Betelgeuse, who dotes on her endlessly. Millie (Carmella) is a calico on the outside and and orange on the inside. She likes to think she is in charge!”

Thank you for the update and for giving these great girls a lovely forever home!

Hope everyone has been enjoying their holidays as much as our foster Mr. Dragonfly has been enjoying his first Christmas tree! He is *not* available for adoption but stay tuned for some info about him coming soon. Please share any of your funny cat+ decorations pictures on this post!

Happy Monday! Has everyone finished their holiday shopping and gotten some good presents for your kitties as well? This week we have the most exciting news- our spicy Miss Cinnamon went home! She is settling in very well, so keep an eye out for a Forever Friday post about her soon. We also had Kobe, Sampson & Dell, and Rogue & Puzz go home, and Bash is on deposit! We do have a pair of kittens to share with you, as well as new updated pictures of our adorable Billie and Baloo!

Danny and Sandy are sisters and should be adopted together, and they are sweet as can be. They purr as soon as you look at them, love to play, and love to be held. They came to us as little stray kittens and got some great socialization and love in foster right away, so they are good to find their forever home! The pictures of them are a little blurry, because it’s hard to get pictures one-handed of wiggly kittens that want to be held and loved! Billie and Baloo are doing great- their foster says they’re still a little skittish but love to be pet and held, and drool when they’re getting loved on. So sweet! Look for a spotlight post of them soon.

We are open our regular open hours this week, Thursday and Friday 12-3:30 and Saturday 10-1, and a big THANK YOU again to all who purchased raffle tickets and cash calendars! We have contacted the winners of the raffle, but be sure to check in about the cash calendars when we draw the winners for those, stay tuned on the details on the drawings for that!

Please see below for a most wonderful Forever Friday story from Eli’s adopters! He had a really tough time before he was adopted. He came to us as a feral stray and spent 4 months with us on quarantine for a wound of unknown origin. During this time, he slowly but surely became friendly and enjoyed human contact!

“Our family was not looking for another cat. My girls visited the CCC on November 30th to check out the craft fair and visit with the animals. They met Eli and fell completely in love with him, and he with them. During the two hours they visited with Eli they took several pictures and some videos and showed them to me when they got home. I fell in love as well, and talked with my husband about giving that sweet boy his forever home. He was a bit concerned about our sometimes-spicy 4 and a half year old cat, Jasper, but said we could give it a try.
I applied to adopt Eli on December 1st and anxiously waited for the reply.
On December 7th we got the call we were all hoping for - we were approved and Eli was OURS. We took him home that day.

It’s been almost two weeks, and while spicy Jasper isn’t thoroughly impressed, after a week of separation and scent-swapping, Eli can roam the house freely, they use the same food bowls and litter box, and can be in the same room without any hissing, growling, or either cat “puffing up” or being anxious or upset.
Eli desperately wants Jasper to be his friend, and we know eventually they will be.

It took Eli a little time to get used to the sounds in a house: he is not the biggest fan of the dishwasher running or toilets flushing, but he has been getting accustomed to those sounds and is no longer frightened by them.

Eli is loving all the available laps, loves to play and needs to be where the people are. He follows us around the house just waiting for someone to sit down so he can snuggle. His coat has become much more shiny and softer since he’s been here. He also REALLY likes to watch tv, and I swear he smiles when he gets chin scratches!

We adore this boy we didn’t know we needed, and are so happy that he picked us to be his forever humans!”

Happy Monday! This week we have some super exciting news- Cinnamon is on deposit!!! We have a few more kitties and kittens available for adoption as well!

Luckie is gorgeous, and very scared still, but she is now available and in the shy room. She would do well with a bit more socialization but would appreciate a quiet home with plenty of patience to settle in. Sir Newton is a very handsome boy who came to us as a stray. He also needs more socialization before his personality really comes out, but he is very cute and sweet even though he is nervous! We also have five kittens available, from two different litters! Rogue, Puzz, and Bash from one litter, and Danny and Sandy from another, and we will have a few more ready later this week too.

We have our open hours on Thursday and Friday from 12-3:30 and Saturday from 10-1. Come down to meet these great kitties, and maybe find a companion with whom to share the holidays and a forever home! A reminder, we will be running our ticket sales for the raffle drawing for the Man and Cat Candle Company basket and the lottery basket until December 20th, with the drawing being held on the 30th. We also have our cash calendars for sale at the shelter, which is a great way to support the shelter kitties and have many chances to win some great prizes!

A message from Vinny (originally posted in the Smart Shopper):

“Hey, Vinny here. Yup, I am still at the shelter and I’m starting to feel a little defeated and sad. My neighbors keep coming and going but here I sit. I have been living here as one of the longest of all the kitty residents….. SINCE MARCH!

Before coming to the Community Cat Connection, I lived my life on the streets. The vet thinks I am around 1 ½ years old. It took me awhile to realize that the shelter was not a bad place to be. I am not as tough as I acted at first. The volunteers keep me well cared for, warm and fed. Best of all, I feel safe.

But I want to live with a loving person or family. My ideal home would be calm, since I can get a little over-stimulated. I am FIV positive, but I can still live a happy, healthy life with other friendly cats and a slow introduction. If I don’t sound like a good fit for your family, please share my picture and my story with those who might consider me the ideal cat.

Please come meet me at the Community Cat Connection. Open hours are Thursday and Friday, from 12 to 3:30 and Saturday from 10 to 1.”

Happy Monday! This week we do not have any new kitties but we did have our wonderful holiday spokescat Eli go home last week! We heard that he has settled in immediately, as expected, and we hope he has a wonderful life at his forever home. We also had Chloe, a kitty that was not initially available for adoption go home to a long term foster. She was not advertised for adoption because she was not social, but this home is willing to work with her to give her time and space to settle in and be comfortable.

We do have Lucky and Oreo that can be adopted together or separate, as they have spent enough time with us to show that they are close, but are not bonded to one another. If you notice, Cinnamon also has a new picture, and she really has come out of her shell! I had not seen her for a bit but I saw her today and she came down from her cat tree to seek out attention and pets! She has been with us since February, and deserves a loving home where she can be the queen and for her family to enjoy her newly-shown personality. Come by to see Cinnamon’s new confidence and interest in attention!

Another reminder, we have our cash calendars available for purchase until December 28th and raffle tickets for the Man and Cat Candle Company and lottery scratch tickets until the 20th. Three tickets for $5, and all proceeds go back to caring for the kitties! We also have a donation box that we will continue to be collecting toys and treats for the shelter kitties through the end of the month. Thank you to all that have donated so far!
