Who are Terra Norte' German Shepherd Dogs -

German Shepherds have been part of my life since the very beginning. My first German Shepherd Dog, Primo – was a 6 month old puppy when I entered the family. The bond that formed between the two of us was the beginning of a deep, lasting love of the breed. Since that time, there has always been a black & tan, black or bi-color that has served as my con

stant companion and protector. In 1984, the beginnings of Terra Norte’ took root. It had been my dream to breed and exhibit quality German Shepherd dogs. To produce sound dogs capable of being family companion while adhering to the standard of the ideal German Shepherd. Though I started with German-bred dogs, over time I have evolved towards American-bred lines. I have been fortunate to have dogs who showed their intelligence and trainability while receiving obedience titles, dogs who showed their prowess in the herding arena and those found to embody the ideal conformation and character necessary to be awarded the title of Champion. While I do compete in the conformation ring, it is my philosophy to breed dogs that will be treasured family companions. My goal is to provide individuals with dogs that will be members of their families for years to come. It is also my goal to help educate those desiring to add one of these incredible animals to their households and make certain that they are deserving of one who has “the look of eagles”.

Oh my! I am over the moon!! Petra, the Egyptian queen - CH Terra Norte’s Cleopatra v Kaimacha PT HSCs went Select today under highly respected GSD breeder judge Ileana Nogueras at the GSDCA National. She has been in brother Alex’s shadow (CH Terra Norte’s Alexander the Great HSCs HSAS HSDs HIDd HIAs - but this tips the scale. Gabriel and I managed to trot around the big ring this morning in the Bred-by class at the National and came out with a 2nd place! Glad I made it around without having to come out on a stretcher. Boarding to take off for Germany! Going on a Traditional Style Herding Junket with Carolyn Wilki, Sherry Lee, and Sierra Keiper. 10 days of herding trials, shepherd certification tests, kennel visits and shadowing shepherds with their flocks. Spending the weekend in Estes Park at the Long's Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival sharing my passion for herding. The A team (HC Tristan the Border Collie and CH Alex the GSD) have been helping with the transhumance from the stock’s night quarters down the aisles of the clan tents to the demo arena and pen. Then with the help of the B team CH Petra the GSD and Delia the 5 Month old BC) we are performing herding demos. The dogs have been great breed ambassadors!! The weather has been fabulous! Love Estes Park in September.

Its been a good week for the Terra Norte' German Shepherds. First Alex's sister "Petra" Terra Norte's Cleopatra v Kaimacha PT co-owned with Laurie Jeff Greer finishes her conformation championship in high style with a 5 PT major from a Group 2 placement under esteemed German Shepherd specialist Elizardo Valadez Franco. Then Alex gets some mail - his Herding Intermediate Course D sheep certificate makes that title official.

Along with all the excitement of keeping the wheels on the wagon during the herding trial - the Terra Norte’ GSDs had a pretty good weekend too. CH Terra Norte’s Alexander The Great HSAs HSCs HSDs went High in Trial on Thursday from the intermediate D Course u set judge Marian Pott Po***ck. His haul for the weekend included 2 intermediate D course legs and 2 intermediate A course legs (on sheep), finished his AHBA RLF level one and HRD level one titles (on sheep and goats). Alex continues to amaze me!

Day 3 of the journey to Augusta…. Today left
Kentucky in the rear view, and passed the Welcome to Tennessee and Georgia signs. We also spent an hour sitting in gridlock traffic traversing first Nashville, then Chattanooga, between Chattanooga and again in Atlanta. Did stop at the Clark County Rest area at Nickajack Lake (wide part of Tennessee River). Very pretty! Dog show tomorrow!! Calling for rain, hope it moves out as forecast.

Rufus, Gabriel and I continued our eastward progression. Today we started in Kearney, NE and told the horses whoa at Kuttawa, KY. Along the way we crossed the Missouri (2x), Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee rivers (big time water). We rolled through Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri (Saw Kansas), Illinois and Kentucky. As I was following the Maps App through St Louis - thinking I should really take 470 south towards Memphis - the app said no..... it was because the gods intended for me to see the most fabulous sunset over Rend Lake in IL. Should have stopped and took a photo - but this one is close. Tomorrow - wagons Ho! We push on to Augusta - the land of golf courses and white pine.
