Hey Hairy..She is a Scottish Highlander Cow!.She is a gentle giant for sure. She LOVES her apple slices every day that the Adams Apple Orchard & Farm Market donated to our farm. Thanks for the apples and helping to support our farm.

Our small rural community was hit hard this week.. one of our Border Patrol Officials lost his life..We live close to the Canadian Border. This senseless loss of life has affected many families in our community. We did not know him personally...which doesn't matter..Please keep The Maland Family in your thoughts and prayers.

Maland’s family said his career spanned nine years in the military and 15 in the federal government.

Just survived morning chores.. it's warmed up to a balmy 10 BELOW ZERO.... thank goodness for handwarmers in my gloves or I'd have frostbitten fingers by now! I have to take my gloves off a lot to unhook gates.. chop apples.. etc so it's nice when I put my hands back into my gloves and they're all toasty again! The Reindeer don't mind this weather at all.. it's their perfect weather! Here is Dasher just waiting for breakfast to arrive.

To those of you wondering how Rufus is doing...well he had his little snip snip last Thursday...we are trying to keep him calm and low key..You tell me if it is working!!! We are trying to introduce him to our cat Deacon very slow...We have discovered that Rufus likes to shred paper...hmmm.

This is what happens when a cute young couple from Austin Texas come visit Vermont Reindeer Farm using a rental with all season tires ..and had never driven in snow! They are on their honeymoon..they definitely left here with some great memories and a crash course in Vermont winter driving 101! POPPA and his trusty blue tractor to the rescue!

Why do reindeer hooves click when they walk? It's their secret way of staying connected with the herd, even in blinding snowstorms and dark conditions.

Reindeer have a tendon that passes over bones in their foot that makes this magical clicking sound...just like the song says.....

Did you know peacocks loose all their feathers in the Fall? George lost all of his...now he is growing them back! By the time it is spring he will have them mostly grown back and ready to move back out to thier summer home. Animals are amazing!

Dasher taken by one of our new friends from Puerto Rico. He sent me several that I will be sharing. It was so cold this day..the family members were very cold and just dealt with the cold with a smile on their faces!
