Intestinal parasites like tapeworms and roundworms are more common in pets than you might think, and they can pose a risk to humans too! These parasites are easily spread when pets lick your faces after coming into contact with contaminated environments.
Routine parasite prevention is key to keeping your pet and family safe. That's why we recommend checking a stool sample annually to catch and prevent infections early. Keep your pets and household healthy with regular parasite control. We carry and recommend Simparica Trio, but there are other good alternatives on the market.

You can have both, little kitten!
We do our best to keep all of our patients happy and comfortable at Two Rivers, but sometimes pets still express their frustration with us. We understand!
(Note: this was routine blood draw. This kitty did great during her time with us.)

✔️ Reminder: be careful with all chews and treats. If your dog or cat hasn't eaten for 24 hours, has been vomiting, and not acting like itself, it's time to see the vet.
Waiting can cost your pet its life. Fortunately, this dog was helped in time and is on its way to a full recovery!

Tick-borne diseases are a serious threat to dogs and cats, and we see a LOT of ticks in Fargo!
Keep an eye out for signs like lethargy, fever, and loss of appetite.
Prevention is key: use year-round tick prevention and check your pets regularly for ticks. Even if your pet never goes outside, protection is important! 🐾

🐕 This week, we performed a splenectomy on a sweet dog who just wasn't feeling like herself.
After noticing a mass in her abdomen and finding no other tumors in her body, we took her to surgery to remove it. The mass was located on her spleen.
Splenic tumors are relatively common in dogs and can present with vague symptoms like lethargy, decreased appetite, or a distended abdomen.
These tumors put dogs at risk for significant internal bleeding, which can be life-threatening. Early detection and removal are crucial to prevent rupture and spread.
We sent this spleen to the NDSU lab for evaluation, and we're hopeful for a positive outcome.
Regular check-ups and being attentive to changes in your pet’s behavior can make all the difference!

Elwood is a dapper male green iguana who accidentally broke his tail a day ago. He needed the end amputated, and he did very well for the procedure. He's feeling better and back to his normal activity! (Please note: he's currently shedding, so his scales appear less lustrous than usual). Thanks for visiting, Elwood!
🦎 Did you know? Iguanas are fascinating creatures! Here are 3 interesting facts about them:
1️⃣ Iguanas have a specialized gland in their nose that helps them excrete excess salt, allowing them to live in salty environments.
2️⃣ Iguanas are herbivores and primarily eat leaves, flowers, and fruits, but they occasionally indulge in insects and small animals.
3️⃣ Female iguanas can lay up to 70 eggs at a time, and these eggs take around 10 weeks to hatch.
