Casper, always the gentleman and kindest soul. On Tuesday, he gave a lesson to an 82 year old gentleman. On Wednesday, he gave a lesson to a 5 year old boy. He is one amazing horse.

We’ve had a busy weekend! Saturday morning Troop 4338 earned their horsemanship badge - Congratulations! Saturday Evening we attended the Enchanted Evening Pride Prom for HCPSS High Schoolers. Just prior to Prom we had the Honor of being awarded this plaque & several other small tokens of appreciation. It was totally unexpected and means so much to us. Lastly, Maggie & I woke up early to show at Coexist Central Maryland Horse Show Association and won Grand Champion in Puddle Jumpers!!! A fantastic weekend full of so many good things!

Be still my heart - I love these young adults and this program so much - and am incredibly privileged & grateful to work with them.

Students full of joy and optimism arrived at a therapeutic and recreational riding center that offered memories to last a lifetime.

We had a super fun and exciting day at the farm! We welcomed WBAL Channel 11 crew & Deborah Weiner and helped them prep on their knowledge of horses for their live coverage of Preakness. Deborah was brave and faced her fear of horses by riding Phoebe around the arena. Cooper, as usual, stole the show!

Congratulations Rebel Girl (aka Maggie) winning Grand Champion Puddle Jumpers at Central Maryland Classic Horse Show hosted by Dover Saddlery - Crofton ! She won Fastest Time, 2nd in Power & Speed, and 2nd in the Jump Off. She was awarded 3 medals, a Grand Champion Ribbon and a beautiful new bridle from Dover Saddlery!

We had a wonderful weather day for our “Schools Out, Time for Horses!” Day camp! Everyone enjoyed grooming & glittering horses, learning colors and markings, going on a trail ride and of course, the infamous stream! Lots of fish and even a few crayfish! We all had a lot of fun and I believe a few went home exhausted, including me!

Jetty & Charlize had a great first run last night. We aren’t sure how she ended up in the placing but Jetty & Charlize had an amazing first run! She runs again Thursday and then Friday at the Fort Worth Stockyard.

Jetty & Charlize had a great first run. We aren’t sure of her placing as there were 100 more runs after her. They run again Thursday, then on to Fort Worth Stockyards Friday.

Congratulations Charlize & Jetty - sliding into 3rd place to win some money at the Lone Star Rodeo in Salisbury, MD. The weather kept me home to care for the horses, but oh how I wish I had been there!

Piglets Playing Despite the Cold!

If you listen with the sound up, you will hear Diane’s rhythmic grunting while the piglets are nursing. This serves two purposes, to let the piglets know it’s time to nurse, and to aid in the “letting down” of the milk. At birth, piglets establish a teat order, and will suckle that specific teat until they are weaned. Each mammary gland will respond to the individual piglet suckling, and produce the unique amount for that particular piglet!
