My wife going in to save our rooster and hen with a pellet gun. Unfortunately she was unable to save them, but definitely gave it her all.
It’s been a hectic month consumed by predator invasions. I’ve lost 29 chickens, and chicks this past month with last not being the loss of my last 2 adult chickens. I’d decided to no longer keep chickens until I can create an area and coop that’s completely predator resistant…. Well, apparently two chicks made it out of the coop during all of the chaos. Our neighbors found one and we found the other while were placing the recent find in the coop. Included with this post are some graphic video, as well as my wife giving her best effort to save the remaining chickens. She even got neighbors involved in the effort! She isn’t a fan of my birds, but really liked til he rooster… Carlos.
We got Lola a boyfriend!!! Hoping for our first litter next spring!! His name is Gorgeous George; he is a toy poodle! Together they will have a litter of F1bb miniature doodles. The coat colors are expected to vary greatly. Anything from cream, chocolate, red, black, parti, and merle coats. Once we have a verified pregnancy, we will be taking deposits!
Just a cat enjoying lunch with a flock of chickens.
This is normal, right ?!?! 😂
April showers
With a thunderstorm rolling in at dark, the flock made its way into the coop. With several young birds, the coop is crowded at night. This Ayam Cemani found herself a spot to be alone as the rain beats on the tin roof. We recently purchased a few cowhide crested polish hens…. You’ll notice one making her funny “I’m content” sound in the background.
The black, blue, and copper Marans are all growing fast! Also new to the coop this year are our OEs!!! We have Ayam Cemani chicks that’s will be added to this group soon as well.
