Purdue’s Farm Animal Hospital welcomed over 60 sheep and goat producers from Indiana and Illinois for a Small Ruminant Producer Workshop on November 23. Attendees learned from Purdue experts about critical topics like parasite management, urolithiasis prevention, and Indiana Farm Extension resources.
The workshop also featured a hands-on trailer safety demonstration and a tour of the Farm Animal Hospital, giving producers practical tools and insights for success.

Organized by Dr. Laura May, DVM Class of 2019, this event exemplified Purdue’s commitment to supporting the agricultural community.

Purdue Veterinary Medicine had a strong presence at the 2024 Midwest Pork Conference in Noblesville, IN!
This one-day event brought together over 300 Indiana pork producers for an engaging program of educational sessions, networking, and a vibrant trade show featuring more than 50 vendors. The Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) and Purdue Farm Animal Hospital showcased their expertise at the event, with representatives like Dr. Kenitra Hendrix, Craig Bowen, Dr. Darryl Ragland, and Jessica Schneider connecting with attendees.

Dr. Bowen also presented an ADDL update to Indiana swine veterinarians, emphasizing Purdue’s commitment to supporting the state’s pork industry.

Winter Pet Care Tips:
✔️ Dress your pet in a coat or sweater, especially for smaller breeds or seniors
✔️ Limit outdoor time to prevent overexposure to the cold
✔️ Provide a warm, insulated shelter with comfy bedding
✔️ Protect paws with booties or balm and wipe off snow, ice, and salt after walks
✔️ Keep fresh, unfrozen water available and consult your vet about adjusting their diet

Meet Dr. Murillo, Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Purdue Veterinary Medicine! Boarded by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia, Dr. Murillo specializes in equine anesthesia, loco-regional anesthesia, and neuro monitoring of anesthetic depth.

At home, Dr. Murillo is loved by her furry family! Her “pet professor” Kiwi the cat, her sweet old lady Kara the white dog, and her playful boys, Chapo and Mike, keep her life full of love and energy.
