Maui 🌸 We are halfway through Maui’s one week board and train and he is excelling. Maui was brought in with high anxiety and reactivity; he was notorious for ripping people off of their feet with his strength and disregard of leash pressure. We’ve been focusing on basic manners, engagement, and slowly but surely upping his threshold to stress. Should you have expectations of your puppy at 8 weeks old? They’re just a baby, right? Wrong. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you should expect your puppy to be perfect at obedience, house broke, and never chew on anything. That’s part of having a puppy. I’m talking about age appropriate boundaries and expectations. If you don’t like your dogs on your couches, don’t let them on the couch when they’re a puppy…someday they’re gonna grow up and be confused as to why they’re getting in trouble for doing something they’ve always done. If you want your puppy to grow up and be a dog that can go places with you, start getting them used to a car, get them started on not jumping on people, etc. Start teaching them young!
