People often ask what superpower would you have if you could have one.

Well, today I feel like a super human.

While outside on our mid day potty break, Daisy spotted a whole flock of quail in our yard and the one behind us. Quail move fun and would be an awesome playmate in chase.

My heart went into my throat... I had no food on me, and her ball was in her mouth looking at the quail.

"Daisy, let's get some chicken" came out of my mouth... and her ears pricked up, our previous game of ball and quail both forgotten.

We raced to the fridge and out came her holy grail! Steamed chicken breast.

Breaking off a few pieces, I tossed one out, one at my feet and asked for a touch for the last one.

No immediate reinforcement besides play, in this case a game of racing to the fridge, was available... and my dog recalled!

“Oh, she just needs some more bone.” The moment that it clicked in my head that I understood my dog’s needs.

Anxiously waiting to hear that my puppy was born, I was determined to be the best dog parent that I could. I knew I didn’t want to cause her undue pain and I was trying to figure out what to feed her.

It was 2020, and like every other industry, pet food was facing recalls, shortages. Let alone the epidemic of obese dogs, rise in canine cancer, and all the “don’t feed X brand to your dog. It will kill them.”
